John Delaney's Sketch of the Week #17

Welcome to "John Delaney's Sketch of the Week"!

The Intro
Out of the kindness of his art, John Delaney is doing something big for the fans - an exclusive weekly sketch for the fans who frequent Toon Zone!

Every week, he will draw a new picture based on the results of the poll. That means that *we* fans choose what the image will be!

The Low Down:
The contest will begin every Monday, and end at 5pm Eastern the following Friday, giving fans a solid five days to choose. You can only vote ONCE! John will then draw the sketch over the weekend and we'll present at the beginning of the following week. The characters must be animation/comic characters drawn in the Animated style, and if you have any requests for future polls, send me an email with your ideas! Keep an eye out on the Comics Forum for all the latest action!

You can also post your thoughts on the poll in this thread.

*NOTE* Special just for this week: This is a themed poll in which you choose the 80s character that you'd like to see John update! That's right, we're giving John full use of his Artistic license and asking him to bring one of the characters up for nomination into the new Millenium!

The Rules:
We ask that all users encourage each other to abide by the rules.

Rule #1
Respect others on the boards. It's one thing to disagree with the opinions of others and discuss it. It's another to insult them by verbally bashing the choices of the poll. Do not insult any choices on the poll.

Rule #2
If rule 1 cannot be adhered to, you will be warned. If the situation happens again, banning will occur. There is no strike three.

Rule #3
The moderators reserve the right to suspend the poll for a week (or more) if they deem that the situation warrants.

Rule #4
Campaigning is allowed and encouraged, but in consideration of everyone with slower connections, all images should be thumbnailed. If an image program is not available to assist in that, then they must be linked to. Any post with images larger than 300 pixels in width, will have to be deleted.

Requests:
Keep on sending requests in!!! If there's a character you'd like to see back on the poll again, send requests for that too. colin@toonzone.net

The Gallery:
Make sure to take a look at the Gallery , which collects all the images done for this poll.

Here are thumbnails of the nominees. Click on the thumbnails for full pictures. The winner will receive a new, modernized look from Mr. Delaney!

Vote Voltron!

Howdy all,

Should "Firestorm" in the polls be "Firestar"? Or is the "Spider-Man & His Amazing Friends" clue for the wrong hero?

I was wondering who Firestorm was. I think it should be Firestar. Maybe I'll vote for her.

The lions are the only cool version of Voltron in my book.

Vote Lion-O!!!

After all where else can you hear the classic catchphrase "Thundercats HO!!!!!"? Couple that with the fact that John has created some truly amazing pieces of art and think about how this 80's legend would look in his pencils!

Lion-O, there can be no other choice.

-Joe!

Lion-O sounds like a good choice. I must have over looked him. I think the Voltron picture could turn out cool.

I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be Firestar, and that the name is the part that's wrong, not the clue. I went in and changed it real quick.

Firestar is really unique, since she was introduced in the Spider-Man cartoon but made the transition to comics and became somewhat popular as a member of the New Warriors and the Avengers.

We should be seeing her on ABC Family in a little over a month on the Spider-Man block.

I'm not sure if I should vote for her or Lion-O, so I'll just wait a little while.

Cool. Thanks!

When in doubt, go for the perky one. Or the redhead. Or the perky redhead =8^). Count one vote for Firestar.

YIKES

I know none of these characters! Excpect Jem and Lion-O!!! I guess this will please those people who find it aggrivating that a Bat-character is always on the poll.

I assume that Jem is the same one from "Jem and the Holograms", right? Because that's who I voted for...

Come on! Who wouldn't wanna see a Cyndi Lauper type babe in this style?

Without even looking at the results, I predict that Voltron will run away with it. He's getting my vote anyway. I'm not happy about these theme polls. I only requested one sketch candidate, but I doubt I'll ever see it if we keep putting ten requests from the same person in one poll. I'm not trying to start a flame here, I'm just saying that I feel it is a little bit unfair to edge out all othe requests for one poll . Maybe next week .

Hmm... I'm not seeing any real bold standouts for me 'tis time around. I think I'm gonna hold out for Friday.

After staring blankly at the poll for a minute I saw "G.I. Joe" and voted for that guy.

I guess his name is Quick Kick.
