Which is more violent? Elfen Lied or Fist of the North Star?

Which is a more violent anime?

I don't know, I havn't watched either yet. But I heard Elfen Lied sucks and is a glorified harem show, and that Fist of the North Star is awesome.

I heard that Kenshiro takes a skyscraper to the face. That sounds pretty violent/awesome to me.

I'm waiting for those DVDs of the original series to come out. Dub or not, I can't wait to see this show.

Well since Fist of the North Star anime is edited from it's manga form, I have to give it to Elfen Lied. The anime censored some bits here and there from the manga, like giving an outline of people's head exploding. But if you want to watch something, go with Fist of the North Star.

Elfen Lied. The violence in FotNS while rather graphic is rather tame due to them always being outlines or shadows. In Elfen Lied it's of more graphic detail and the violence is a part of a bit of needless excess (nekkid pink haired girl running around).

Well, The Elfen Lied anime is totally more violent than the fist of The North star anime, cause Fist of The North Star totally censored the violence from the manga while Elfen Lied dint.

But i must say, having read both the original manga of Elfen Lied and the one for Fist of The North Star, i think Fist of the North Star is more violent in their original medias. Theres just something about seeing peoples body parts explode and their guts or brains or whatever falling out that is......... very violent. And also, the many many bandits in that manga are just ruthless. Not to say that Elfen Lied isn't, the stuff that happens later on in the manga is far more violent than anything that happens in the anime, its just not as gory as Fist Of The North Star.

Elfen Lied in anime, North Star in manga, but Fist of the North has the better organized and better written story in either medium.

Eh, I never liked Fist of the North. Seems overrated to me. On the other hand I love Elfen Lied. But that might have something to do with red hair.....

Elfen Lied definitely seems a lot more violent then Fist of the North Star, but that probably has something to do with the 20-year different in their creations. Elfen Lied's violence actually looks realistic, while Fist of the North Star looks like, well, an 80s cartoon. Maybe if Fist of the North Star was completely remade with the most modern animation technology use din anime short of CGI, it might be a fair match.

One is probably about as violent as the other, Elfen Lied is just far more exploitative and lewd about it. Comparatively, the violence in North Star is almost poetic.

Well, as poetic as exploding heads can be.

Honestly, while FOTN is more over the top than it probably should be, the violence actually gives an extra layer of malice and dread to the universe that actually feeds into the setting and atmosphere.

It's probably part of the reason FOTN is still remembered as a classic while Elfen Lied is... well... not.

Maybe not completely realistic, but realistic by current anime standards, which is a hell of a lot more realistic than any of the violence in Fist of the North Star. Maybe I just meant "well-animated".
