Toon Zone Talkback - Media Blasters Licenses "Great Guardians" and "Queen's Blade"

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news...reat-guardians

Wow, looks like hell froze over early.

(And the second half of GaoGaiGar doesn't get a dub because....?)

I'M SHOCKED! SHOCKED!!......well not that shocked since these are the people that licensed more than their fair share of ecchi anime through the course of their distribution, but still I don't think nothing can top FUNI licensing Strike Witches

What the freaking hell. Media Blasters really is the worst anime company in America. Leave it to them to license the worst anime of 2009, if not one of the worst of the decade. There it is, this is where their priorities are. You don't get much clearer than this.

Just tell me it will be released under the Kitty Media label instead of the Anime Works label. This does not deserve to be stinking up the shelves in DVD stores everywhere.

Of all the shows being released sub-only these days and Queen's Blade is getting a dub... there's a word for this, I just know there is...

My "to rent" list got a little longer. Be interesting to see how this compares with Titanic: The Animated Movie.

You know, if it was any company but Media Blasters, I would be laughing and sarcastically suggesting it end up on Adult Swim.

But this is Media Blasters, the company that totally screwed over GGG, so I just shake my head instead.

Wow...I didnt think anyone would actually attempt to grab Queen's Blade. It'll probably sell to a certain market, but it's not exactly what I consider a quality bit of work. If you took out the boobs and other fanservice, there's nothing left.

Yeah, at least Gonzo did try to tell a story with Strike Witches. Queen's Blade just uses their's as an excuse.

Look at the bright side, at least they'll be releasing Dairugger XV (the original JPN ver. of the "second half" of "Voltron") in February...

Not that I'm suspicious of this license or anything, but why isn't John Sirabella posting from his real AOD account ?

Media Blasters licensing Queen's Blade really isn't THAT surprising. QB is an ARMS property, and so are the second and third seasons of Ikki Tousen. It only makes sense that MB would try to get more titles from that arm (sorry). It's like with FUNi and Gonzo.

Hmm, you raise a good point. It would be downright nasty of someone to pretend to be John and spread false news over the internet. Hopefully that's not the case and John just created a new AOD account or something. I guess time will tell.

Ah. There were a few snags when making the full integration of AOD into Mania and people ended up having broken accounts.

I'm aware of that, but was it confirmed that "johnsirabella" is THE John and not just someone impersonating him? Not that I'm calling you a liar or anything; I just don't want to spread news if it happens to be false.

He has a very distinct posting style and business philosophies that come out in his posts. He also has a habit of calling out Navarre and FUNimation on questionable comments made by their head people and representatives. If it isn't him, it's a very good and obsessed impersonator.

I am going to laugh so hard if Queen's Blade turns out to be profitable in America.

Hidamari Sketch can't get a dub.

But Queen's Blade can?!

How profitable is Queen's Blade in Japan anyway?

It's also nice to know all 3 IT series have finally made it to America.

Well, we're looking at a more hardcore version of mindless moe junk. So I'm guessing it sells pretty well.

The franchise keeps getting new "art"books and was able to get its own TV series which in turn spawned another TV series, so... yeah.

Would it sound bad if I said I'm pretty sure this will sell a lot better than say, Moribito? Because I'm sure it will, for better or for worse.

Hey, at least it's not on TV. I know Manning wouldn't let it on Adult Swim to save her life.
