Question about why Harry Osborn was brought back to life? (spoilers)
I read on the SpideyKicksButt site that Joe Quesada called Harry's death "stupid" and hence why he had it undone.
I'm wondering... was Harry's death stupid? Heck, I could think of quite a few deaths during Joe Q's tenure that were stupider than Harry's but that's beside the point. Not only that, I'm not sure how Peter and MJ never being married causes Harry to not die, how does that work and even if Harry didn't die, why did Norman come back from Europe at all if Harry never died? I heard they haven't explained this yet. So what do you guys think? Was Harry Osborn's death "stupid"? Was there a point to bringing him back, SHOULD he have been brought back? |

Harry's death was a great story. It was not stupid.
On the other hand, his death left a void that was never quite filled.

Harry's death was obviously meant to be temporary. His Goblin serum started overreacting and "killed" him. It gave the writers an automatic out that they almost used by bringing him back as Gaunt, but in their desperation to end the clone saga at any cost they went a different way.

Quote:
As it turns out, Harry's death isn't undone by the deal with Mephisto, instead the Marvel writers decided Harry came back in the exact same way that Norman did: He just "got better". The goblin formula healed him. More discussion on that can be found here (see Amazing Spider-Man #581 and 582). As for "was their a point to bringing him back", probably not, other than to return Peter to the supposed "classic status quo" that Quesada seems to think everyone's in love with, but truth be told, Harry was written very well in Amazing Spider-Man #584-588, the "Character Assassination" storyline.

It's also because they couldn't successfully make a new "best friend" character for Peter to interact with.
