C&C - Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit - "Hunter's Cave" [10/31]
The after effects of a horror story continue to influence the events of Moribito this week, which actually somewhat fits as it is Holloween night (okay technically November 1st but whatever).
Last time on Moribito: Spoiler:
I hope everyone enjoys this episode. This is episode 20 out of 26 so we are not far away from the end.

With DST ending tonight, does anyone know how they will handle Moribito's timeslot?

According to my cable box, the time slot hasn't changed. There's a Robot Chicken and three Aqua Teens on after it, and then Death Note.
Last time: Awwwwwww. Just...awwwwwww. ...well, apart from the cliffhanger, of course. We'll execute one villager every half-hour until you show yourself!

Previously on Moribito: Balsa vs. Chagum. Balsa is the victor by a landslide.
Whoa! I just noticed for the first time that L'arc-en-siel sings the opening. That's awesome. Oh yes, back to the possible upcoming massacre. Can Granny-sama stop it? "Yes, killed by means he dies!" People die when they are killed. This is first grade stuff people. |

THE. PRINCE. WILL. DIE. Must I spell it out for you?
I don't know. Sounds like a really big demon if you ask me. Well. Thank you Torogai for defusing what would have been a very messy situ--DUDE PUT YOUR SWORD AWAY. Sorry. No slicey-slicey today.

Torogai's message in a nutshell: You kids shut up, go home, do your homework, and let the adults handle this.
Uh...okay, what just happened? |

Aww, Chagum and Nimka have to part so soon? And they were such a cute couple
![]() Wow. Have I ever mentioned how awesome the art design is on this show? Just look at that wooden paneling. Oooookay. Now Balsa's talking to a tree......named Jigoro. All right, so what, they're just going to sit in that cave and play house all winter? |

Hmm. Unresponsiveness. Chagum's probably on stage two now. May not look like it, but it's definitely anger.
With a dash of stage four. He's clearly depressed, too. Stop talking to Grandmother Willow! Well, at least it's more scenic that that watermill. NO ONE WILL BE SEATED DURING THE SKINNING SEQUENCE. Yay! Backstory on Balsa! *credits roll* DAG-FREAKING-GUMMIT!

So, ol' Gigolo...er Jigoro was a great guy eh?
I sense a backstory episode in the near future. |

It's amazing how 95% of the characters in this show can be so understanding to each other's situation after a brief conversation. In the last topic, I was joking how the situation at the village was going to be defused through a conversation, but I didn't think it was going to actually happen! It would be too much for me if this is how the confrontation (if there will be one) with the egg snatcher (name escapes me for now) will go down, with a conversation.

Sad sitting session.
Well, aside from a little audio confusion (Damn Time Warner for lack of stereo for non-cable box holders), this had the makings of a good episode. Until they decide to sit and skin fish. I mean, yeah, the parts with the Star Reader was informative, and then with him talking to the ex-Head Tutor was actually a little moving (not as much as the Tutor's face showed). But the parts in the cave and with the fish and deer were so-so. Of course, I was actually prepared for Balsa's backstory (unlike most flashbacks which I usually dread), then we are at credits!?!?!?! Well at least with six episodes left, we are bound to have a time skip that makes sense to skip a boring winter of just sitting in a cave.
On a side note, did anyone notice that the end theme was playing out in full during the fishing part? Just an observation.
