Former WWE wrestler Jeff Hardy arrested for drug possession/trafficking

Just over a week after his contract with WWE expired...

http://thepilot.com/stories/20090911...jeffhardy.html

Quote:
Professional wrestler Jeff Hardy is in the Moore County jail Friday after being arrested on charges of trafficking in controlled prescription pills and possession of anabolic steriods.

Hardy, 32, of 265 Boys Camp Road, Cameron, was arrested after a search of his residence yielded 262 Vicodin prescription pills, 180 Soma prescription pills, 555 milliliters of anabolic steroids, a residual amount of powder cocaine and items of drug paraphernalia, according to a press release.

A joint investigation conducted by officers with the Moore County Sheriff's Office narcotics and select enforcement units and the Fayetteville Police Department led to the arrest.

Vicodin and anabolic steriods are Schedule III substances, while Soma is a non-controlled prescription pill.

Hardy and his brother, Matt, wrestling as the Hardy Boyz, were six-time World Wrestling Entertainment World Tag Team Champion. Individually, Jeff Hardy held the WWE World Champion belt one time and the World Heavyweight Championship twice.

Hardy was charged with felony trafficking in opium, two counts of felony possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule III controlled substance, felony maintaining a dwelling to keep controlled substance, felony possession of cocaine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

His bail was set at $125,000.
When asked for comment, WWE chairman Vince McMahon offered the following:

I know Jeff Hardy isn't the brightest bulb, but honestly now. Could he possibly stoop any lower, make an even bigger fumble than this?

Good thing he's now a free agent, otherwise Vince would be covering his ass so hard by now.

Baseball players getting popped for PEDs, wrestlers getting popped for PEDs and painkillers. Business as usual.

Nice use of Dawn.

Anyways, in a way, good timing, so Jeff will have to cover this himself. Something tells me Matt's blog might reveal more info.

What if he covers it by saying Vince turned him onto steroids and there's a pervasive drug culture in the WWE, though? It's what I'd do and it's the thing that would gain him the most sympathy.

except it would be a lie. I'm sure there's drugs in wwe, not as much as in the 80s but it's there, but to pass the buck onto someone else is immature and isn't at all sympathetic.

If Jeff wants sympathy then he's going to need to start taking the blame all on himself, admit he has a problem, and get the help he refused before because he clearly is not the kind of person who can just kick the habit on his own. I don't know if he'd actually do all that but I don't think he'd be the type to try put the blame on the WWE in any way. Also I think he would get in more trouble if he did as it would most likely be a lie.

Yeah...except Jeff Hardy has been experimenting with drugs before he joined the WWE. From those close to him, he's the recreational type of user, not the type who got into it because of his work environment like say Jake Roberts.

If you're actually talking about CM Punk though, you are as far out of field as you possibly can be.

I never thought that a wrestling promo would become true, but Punk's promo 3 weeks ago did. Jeff just cannot defeat his demons, his career maybe over for good now.

first off, jake didn't do them because of any sort of environment. He did drugs because of his psychological issues.

I also don't like the term disease or demons when refering to drug addiction. It implies lack of choice. These guys had a choice and made a bad one.

Unless he can prove that WWE covered up tons of failed drug tests, that excuse would make no sense, because only AFTER leaving the federation is a whole truckload of drugs being found on his person. There's really no way for him to pin this on the federation.
