Glee "Pilot" Talkback (Spoilers)
Did you check out the sneak peak of FOX's new series Glee last May? If not, you can catch it tonight in a special "Tweat-Peat" where you can interact with the cast on Twitter. You can also find the episode on FOX.com and Hulu. The official season premiere is scheduled for this coming Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET. With scheduled premieres, FOX is currently not expected to air President Obama's address to Congress.
The series follows an optimistic teacher, WILL SCHUESTER (Matthew Morrison), who - against all odds and a malicious cheerleading coach - attempts to save McKinley High's Glee Club from obscurity, while helping a group of aspiring underdogs realize their true star potential. It's a tall order when the brightest stars of the group include KURT (Chris Colfer), a soprano who hits a high note in fashion; MERCEDES (Amber Riley), a larger-than-life diva with a voice to match; ARTIE (Kevin McHale), a geeky guitarist who rocks and rolls; and TINA (Jenna Ushkowitz), a punk rocker who hides behind her stutter and blue hair extensions. Will's only hope lies with two true talents: RACHEL BERRY (Lea Michele), a self-proclaimed star who is convinced that MySpace and show choir and are her tickets to fame; and FINN HUDSON (Cory Monteith), the popular high school quarterback with movie star looks who must protect his reputation from his holier-than-thou girlfriend and "Cheerios" head cheerleader, QUINN (Dianna Agron), and his arrogant football teammate, PUCK (Mark Salling). Will is determined to do whatever it takes to make Glee great again, but his only ally is fellow teacher and germaphobe EMMA PILLSBURY (Jayma Mays). Everyone else around him thinks he's nuts - from his tough-as-nails wife TERRI SCHUESTER (Jessalyn Gilsig) to McKinley's scheming cheerleading coach SUE SYLVESTER (Jane Lynch) - but he's out to prove them wrong. Featuring a soundtrack of hit songs from past and present, GLEE is produced by Ryan Murphy Television in association with 20th Century Fox Television. Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan are co-creators of the series. Murphy, Falchuk and Dante Di Loreto serve as executive producers, while Ian Brennan serves as co-executive producer. Murphy directed the pilot. Tonight's episode... "Pilot" Friday, September 4, 2009 @ 9 p.m. ET/8 CT on FOX Original airdate: May 19, 2009 In GLEE, optimistic high school teacher Will Schuester tries to refuel his own passion while reinventing the McKinley High School's glee club and challenging a group of outcasts to realize their star potential. Going up against McKinley's cruel high school caste system and facing harsh criticism from everyone around him, Will is determined to prove them all wrong. FOX.com/Glee

It's a good show. It's fun. Kind of like Election, only the teacher actually likes the overzealous girl. It's a more believable High School Musical without the moronic Broadway-styled sequences where everybody sings and dance.

"Pilot"
I don't know if we have any more fans, but I absolutely loved this show. Normally I try to give shows a week or two before I decide, but I already want to watch this show for the season. I loved the singing and the "bum bum" that go over some of the scene transition. It seems like we have a great cast here and I am very excited for Wednesday.

Did anyone manage to watch the director's cut of the pilot that's now on I-Tunes?

I'm wondering if my hometown will be mentioned in the show. Seeing as the show is set in Lima, Ohio they're almost obligated to mention us.
I find this show a little too broad to be fully enjoyed. And I didn't see too many characters I could identify with. It seems completely divorced from what I've seen growing up in northern Ohio. It just seems odd. The school I went to choir, band and drama geeks were the cool kids. And they were quite a few athletes among them. I just felt a huge disconnect. I will continue to watch the show though. I find it entertaining and I love the musical numbers. Though I am perplexed by the use of Gershwin's Mexican Dance in acapella during certain moments of the pilot. It didn't really mesh with the contemporary music performed throughout the show. |

The director's cut also aired last Wednesday and I watched it. I did not see the original version though so I couldn't tell you what was different. I read something about an additional musical number. It started at 8:58 ET rather than 9, so it had two extra minutes including commercials.

I saw this show back in and May and was absolutely blown away. At first the idea seemed a bit corny to me, and the characters a tad annoying, but after "Don't Stop Believing," I was completely blown away. I have been spoiling myself with...well, spoilers this summer in anticipation for this show and I am SO happy for the premier tonight. All I have to say is that I want more Rachel, she was unbelievable.

The director's cut is also on Hulu but I'm curious as to what is in it that wasn't in the May premiere. I definitely have the DVR set to record tonight!

There was a sneak peek? Missed that! Either way, I won't be able to see any Glee due to work, so I'll have to catch it via Hulu. Needless to say, I'm intrigued, if not because I tend to like musicals (provided they're well done and catchy fun).
