I kind of liked this movie when I was younger, but I got it on DVD about 8 or so years ago and tried watching it again. After 30 minutes I had to turn it off.

I freakin' love Pete's Dragon!! I was obsessed with this movie when I was a kid and watched it all the time. Until last year, though, I hadn't seen it in well over a dozen years, at least. My mom surprised me with the DVD one day (she now works at The Disney Store), and I was glad to find that the movie was just as much fun as I remembered it being. I agree, it's no Mary Poppins, but I think it's a perfectly nice little film just the same. Sean Marshall (who I really like as Pete) and Helen Reddy have good chemistry, Mickey Rooney is a delight as always, and Doc Terminus is one of my favorite Disney villains. And "Brazzle Dazzle Day" is my favorite sequence of the film. Sometimes when I didn't have time to watch the whole movie, I'd put my VHS in and skip forward just to watch that number.
I guess a nice 2-disc edition is too much to hope for for this movie, but I'll take what I can get. I'm disappointed, though, that the only documentary on the disc is a 25-minute featurette of which only 15 minutes(!) are spent on the actual film. (I wonder if we'll ever see an edition that includes the original 134-minute Roadshow Version and the original "I Saw A Dragon" number, which has never been seen anywhere outside of that version?)
