Ideas for a Green Lantern Cartoon
What would you put into a Green Lantern cartoon?
Some of my ideas: It should star Hal Jordan, but later (preferably after the first season) it should feature the other Earth Green Lanterns. It should deal with villains like Black Hand, the Manhunters and Star Sapphire in an episodic fashion, but have some sort of underlying story arc to pull it all together - perhaps the slow corruption of Sinestro, leading to his ultimate betrayal in the first season finale. There should be some episodes that take place mostly in space, some that take place mostly on Earth, and some that are split. A Star Sapphire episode would definitely have to be on Earth - as well as the more "bank robber"-style GL villains, like Black Hand and Dr. Polaris. Hal trying to juggle his terrestrial life with his space job should be a major part of the story. Remnants of the modern Sinestro Corps, War of Light, Blackest Night stuff should appear, but be simplified for the cartoon's continuity, and not be too prevalent. There's a lot of potential for a War of Light story to clog an entire season, which seems unnecessary, not to mention having seven or eight corps running around would be confusing to a casual TV audience. The oath should be worked into the theme song somehow, because that would be awesome. I think it would be better outside DCAU continuity, but maybe in something similar to the DCAU style? I don't know, that might be too confusing to fans... what do you think?

Green Lantern Corps: Guardians
A big source of power ring power is found by a GL and reported to the guardians.
They then reaveal that anyone who charges thier ring in the power source will become the Ultimate Gl and will have uncontrolable power. So after that there are attempts by various GLs to charge thier rings. So the guardians recruit Hal Jordan and like 4 other GLs to protect the source....... |

Yes. A Green Lantern series has always made the most sense. Considering that "First Flight" is out now, it's possible that by the time the feature comes out that Warner and DC will want another animated Green Lantern to help promote it. Possibly a sequel to "First Fligh" or a series. I would definitely think that it would be a perfect time to return to the DCAU, but that probably won't happen. I also wouldn't mind an unrelated (to the DCAU) cartoonier Green Lantern, like the Corps in BTBATB or Duck Dodgers either.

First season: introduction to GL Hal Jordan and the betrayal of Sinestro in the season finale
Second season: buildup to Hal Jordan becoming Parallax at the season finale, as well as the introductions to John Stewart and Guy Gardner Third season: the recovery of the Green Lanterns from Parallax's rampage, and the introduction of Kyle Rayner, as well as Hal Jordan's return at the end of the season Fourth season: the return of Hal Jordan, and the steady rise of the Sinestro Corps, beginning with Sinestro's escape and ending with the first part of The Sinestro Corps War Fifth season: The conclusion of the War and the defeat of the Sinestro Corps, as well as the builup to the Blackest Night, starting with the exile of Ganthest and Sayd and the creation of the Blue lantern Corps, continuing with the introduction of all the colors of the Corps rainbow, and ending with a summarized version of the Blackest Night saga. OR... If there's a SIXTH season: the Blackest Night saga, finally ending with the introduction of the White Lantern. 'Nuff said.

If there ever is one, I think they should only focus on whoever they decide their 'main character' is about half the time. Spread the love, give the rest of the Corps some spotlight time. John, Guy, G'nort and the gang all deserve some screen time.

Quote:
Technically, the Sinestro Corps is the Yellow Lantern Corps - rather, they are those who wield the yellow energy symbolic of and empowered by fear (much as the Green Lanterns wield energy derived from and symbolic of willpower). The build-up to Blackest Night revolves around the notion that each of these colours, and each Corps built around one of these colours (which spring up after the Sinestro Corps War), is centred around a single emotion; energies drawn from the minds of every living creature in the universe. These are: Rage Greed Fear Will Hope Compassion Love Green/Will, being closest to the centre of this 'emotional electromagnetic spectrum', is the one most ably directed without consuming or controlling the wielder. The further one gets from the centre, the more the energy is likely to overtake the wielder and subsume him or her into it - as happened with Star Sapphire (who are empowered by the violet energy embodying Love - but love untempered by any other emotion, reckless and potentially dangerous), now revealed to be one of many in a newly-reformed Star Sapphire Corps (whose reformation is partially to assert control over the power they wield). There are some quirks and oddities regarding the interactions, but they make reasonable sense when you acknowledge that the colours are essentially representative - Fear subverts and impedes Will (explaining the old 'yellow weakness' of Green Lanterns), Hope saps Fear of it's strength (Sinestro Corps rings lose their charge in the presence of a Blue Lantern) and bolster Will (Hal Jordan's ring overcharged while near a Blue Lantern), but are all but powerless without the Will to make things happen (Blue Lantern Rings require a nearby Green Lantern as a focus for their powers), and so forth. The Red Lanterns are almost mindless, and utterly destructive. The Rage that drives them, and the power they channel, replaces their blood and the function of their hearts, leaving them nothing but hollow and savage creatures of considerable and devastating power. There is only one Orange Lantern, in truth - the power of Greed cannot be shared, afterall, and it instead consumes and is possessed by a single being who guards it jealously, who uses its power to obtain and possess all he comes across, even those who cross him. The Sinestro Corps is comprised of those most able to inspire fear (when the previous Sinestro Corpsman of Space Sector 2814 was killed, his ring sought out Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow as a replacement - that demonstrates the kind of person they recruit) as an extension of Sinestro's desire to bring order to the galaxy through force and intimidation. The Blue Lanterns were founded by a pair of exiled Guardians (Sayd and Ganthet) who foresaw and chose to act against the impending cataclysm known as the Blackest Night. They are few in number, and their Guardians desire Hal Jordan to lead them in battle, giving the Blue Lanterns a powerful Green Lantern to focus their powers. We know almost nothing of the group known as the Indigo Tribe - their appearances are few and cryptic so far. The Black Lanterns are something else, symbolic of death and the absence of emotion. There are no living Black Lanterns - each and every one of them is a dead creature, compelled to rise and plague the living by one of millions of Black Lantern rings. Their power is considerable, but incomplete as yet, and with every new death they cause and every new recruit they take (as those slain by Black Lanterns are now candidates to be Black Lanterns themselves) their power grows. Until then, the dead who number amongst their ranks use the abilities they had in life, combined with a callous and merciless outlook that taints the memory of the person they once were. They hunt those who feel strongly, perceiving coloured auras corresponding to the relevant emotions in their prey (members of the various Lantern Corps' typically show up as their organisation's colour... but not always), and seek to rid the universe of life. It's been speculated that the Black Lanterns are not truly the people they were in life - certainly, the ghost of Boston Brand (better known as Deadman) remains independent of his risen bodily remains, and was almost forcibly driven out of his body when he attempted to possess it to stop it rising. There's a lot going on, certainly, and I felt somewhat skeptical at first about the ideas that led into it, but I'm absolutely loving it now it's started, and the entire event's comics have been added to my standing order at my local comic store...
