I liked the special features. I wanted to get the Blu Ray as it had that extra exclusive but I don't think that justifies a few more dollars so I changed my mind and got the 2 disc. I actually got it pretty cheap at just $20, Best Buy had it around $25. It didnt help that my PS3 I loaned so I wouldnt have been able to watch it for awhile

I got the FutureShop-exclusive version, which cost about $10 less than the regular for some reason.

It's a bit weird that they included a bunch of bonus features from the other DVDs on this one (one of the Wondy documentaries, one on Gotham Knight).

The preview for Public Enemies was decent; they seem to get the spirit of Loeb's story (big, overblown action), hopefully reducing its rampant stupidity in the process.

I swung by best buy earlier and picked up the 2-disc set w/ the figure. I thought it was kind of weird that the stuff about the other animated movies was on there too, but whatever. Duck Dodgers was a nice treat and I'm really looking forward to Public Enemies.

Deeply disappointed by the lack of a commentary track for the movie, but the rest of the features are pretty good. The Public Enemies short has me stoked. And the Mini Hal Jordan figure is awesome!

i really dislike that the features didn't go into any real depth on hal jordan or the green lantern mythology. A 20 min. feature would've been nice.

Yeah I wasn't planning on getting the figurine version, but it was 21.99 whereas the standard 2-disc set was 26.99? Interesting pricing strategy.

Very disappointed with the bonus features here. If the figurine edition hadn't been so cheap I would've gone with the single disc (which my Future Shop did not carry). No commentary, and there's a distinct lack of a meaty documentary of some sort that came with the other DTVs. I already own the JLU episodes, and I've seen all the "documentaries" for the other DCU DTVs. The one saving grace was the Green Loontern episode, which I've always wanted to see.

Public Enemies looks like it's not afraid to pack in myriad obscure superhero / supervillain cameos, which should be a fun time.

Rats.
No dvd in the mail.
Sometimes that Super Saver Shipping is real painful.
Hopefully it will be Green Lantern night tomorrow.
This might sound kind of lame,
but I'm watching Duck Dodgers first.
Been waiting longer to see it, so it only seems fair.
DC DTV Week is finally here.
Frak yeah!

UPDATE!!!!!

The mail carrier forgot my package & just brought it back.
Going to watch it now.
Forget what I said before, Super Saver Shipping Rules!

The extra episodes (especially "Loontern") make this set totally worth the sticker price. The featurettes were okay, but barely acceptable considering how rich and complex the history of Green Lantern is. The featurettes that discussed Sinestro and the Guardians had barely any information that you couldn't already glean from the movie itself and felt mostly like wasted time, even if they were short.

They were put in to act as "commercials," making buyers aware of the other DTVs that are already out.

Definitely. Considering the movie itself glossed over a lot of the GL Corps details and mythology, a featurette that probed beneath the surface of the material presented would have been a smart idea for the consumers who have minimal knowledge of the comics. It seems WHV wasn't thinking of the everyday consumer these DTVs are supposed to be marketed toward. Die-hard DC fans will be buying these no matter what. In order to sustain the profitability of these releases, and to cross-promote DC's other products, these discs really need more meat on their bones.

Especially considering it's free. Why complain about free stuff?

Just to want to confirm something please. Does the two disc special edition come with a slipcase cover like all the previous releases? When I say special edition I mean the DVD version and not the Bluray.

The reason I ask is that my DVD did not come with a slipcase cover for it.

GL comes in a shiny slipcase with the same art as on the inner DVD case. Did you buy it in stores? Someone may have removed your particular copy from its slipcase and put it back on the shelf. Or were none of them in slipcases?

Thank you for the verification.

I bought the DVD from an e-bay seller as I live in the UK. I've just now contacted him to try to either get a replacement or the actual slipcase itself.

Up until now I have bought all of the DCU Animated movies from Playusa but unfortunately in the case of the Green Lantern film as well as the upcoming Superman/Batman film they do not have the Special Editions for sale. In the case of the latter they only have the Bluray DVD for sale.

EDIT: I just got a reply back from the seller informing me that the slipcase was a limited run on the initial batch only and that it is no longer in circulation. Can anyone please confirm if this is indeed the case?

I am VERY DISAPPOINTED that the digital download is not MAC compatible!! I feel it should have clearly said on the packaging that the digital download was only for Windows users!

Wonder Woman was Mac compatible, and I love having it on my computer and on my ipod! Whats the deal!?

One of the primary reasons I got the 2-discs was for the digital copy, mainly because how much I loved the WW digital copy, which had a chapter selection bar, which neither WW or GL has a chapter selection screen on the menu.

If "Public Enemies" doesnt have a Mac compatible digital download, I WON'T be getting the 2-Discs, thats for sure, unless ofcourse the other special features are of a much higher quality than what we've been getting.

I'm extremely pleased with the movie, but dissapointed w/ the DVD/special features.

I have no idea about that. I was under the impression that all copies of GL currently on sale ARE the initial batch, as they all came out on the exact same day across the country.

The fine print on the back says "System Requirements: Windows Media-compatible only. Not compatible with Apple Macintosh and iPod devices. [emphasis theirs]" I would have missed it, too. I'm assuming the version is incompatible with Apple software either because Apple would rather you buy/rent it from iTunes, or because Microsoft assists WHV with its digital copies and has a clause in their contract to exclude Apple.

Okay, so I'm not the only one annoyed that the digital copy is Windows only.

I agree that it makes no sense to us consumers, "Wonder Woman" was Mac compatible as is "The Dark Knight" and "Watchmen"- both WB releases.

I sent a message, saying as much, using their support/feedback site; but I may also send a letter. Granted they do warn you on the packaging, but there should be an asterisk in the banner on the front of the packaging.

The "Green Loontern" episode was a great inclusion, but I too would have liked a more in depth featurette on the film's making, especially since there was no commentary.

Question- is it just my copy or is there a rather notable layer switch at around the 46th minute. I'm used to layer switches and all, but this one stands out...a lot. I suppose it could be my DVD player, but it's barely a year old and has all the bells and whistles (Panasonic).

This does nothing to stop homebrew digital copies. Most people use digital copies for their iPod, and a legitimate copy is the best way to go. WB was doing things right, what went wrong?

It might be that your seller bought his copy from Barnes and Noble. I just bought myself a copy today, and none of them had slipcases.

My opinion of the release is meh. There are no inserts, and the arms on the second disc holder look like they break easily. The lack of a commentary is a bummer, but I'm glad the Green Loontern episode is included. I love that episode.
