Hopefully Spongebob will be dead in five years, and then the next big thing will come along and crush the Sponge like a bug, just like how Spongebob crushed the PPG and Rugrats. The sooner Spongebob is dead, the sooner another show can get the limelight. Imagine, if it wasn't for Spongebob, then Chowder, P&F and Flapjack would be REALLY popular. Imagine the merchandise! I NEED A PLUSH SHNITZEL!

I'm going to repeat once again...if you don't like the show, DON'T WATCH IT. What does coming in here wishing death on the entire franchise accomplish? Spongebob isn't the reason those shows you mention aren't as popular as you want them to be.

This whole post makes no sense at all. Why should a show get canceled when it still brings in so much money and still has a huge fanbase? You do realize that there ARE still people who like this show, including kids? Would it fair to them if their favorite show got canceled just to be replaced by something they might not even like? I don't think so. And by the way, you do know you don't have to watch the show, right? It blows my mind why people can't simply do THAT instead of spewing mindless hate.

And even if SpongeBob WAS canceled, what makes you think Chowder and Flapjack would suddenly become popular? Are you forgetting about other shows like iCarly, too? It's not automatic that people are suddenly going to start watching those particular shows when there are so many choices out there. And besides that, Nick themselves has no plans to cancel the show, so that's even less likely to happen.

Lastly, SpongeBob didn't crush Rugrats, PEOPLE did. The audience is what makes a show popular. It's really irritating how everyone always holds SpongeBob to blame because some other show they liked got canceled. People grew tired of watching Rugrats, so they moved onto SpongeBob because it was new and original. Is SpongeBob as great as it was from Seasons 1-3? Not exactly, but it still beats the crap out of the later episodes of Rugrats and the present day episodes of the Simpsons. If it wasn't still somewhat good, it wouldn't be making the top 20 constantly.

Phineas & Ferb isn't that good anyway. The same freaking plot in every episode? Seriously? The lame character designs don't help the show any, either.

Oh god, not this again. What about the people who still love the show, even the new episodes such as myself? It's unfair to wish death upon a show that so many people still love. Really, how many times have you posted something like that in a Spongebob thread? It's going uphill again, Season 7 is shaping up to be fantastic. Chowder was one of my favorite shows and doesn't deserve to end but that isn't Spongebob's fault in the slightest.

How is Spongebob preventing those properties from flourishing? I myself like P & F and watch it regularly. On the other hand, I don't like Chowder and Flapjack much at all, and that has NOTHING to do with Spongebob.

Having said that, I do agree with the reviewer that the episodes in that DVD are some of the worst SB episodes on record. They make me wonder if the people writing the show think it's another Ren and Stimpy, and that, in trying to imitate Ren and Stimpy, prove that they don't understand Ren and Stimpy at all...much less Spongebob.

The episodes on that DVD aren't fantastic, but did you see the one's that aired last Sunday? They're much, much better.

Spongebob wasn't the reason Chowder and Flapjack were nearly devoid of popularity and merchandising. CARTOON NETWORK is.

Then you should also stop being rude and stop spewing mindless hate about it. People still like this show, and it does not deserve to end just because you want some merchandise for another show. See my post at the top of this thread.

This is turning into a flame war. I know I'm not a moderator, but I'd appreciate it if we could stop this before things get nasty.

Excuse me but how is this a flame war? I don't see any insults being thrown around, do you? All the responses I have posted are simply just reasonable rebuttals. This is not, in the slightest sense of the term, a ''flame war''.

Alright, guys. Cool your jets. Flame war or not, this is getting dangerously close to one with these continuous arguments on Spongebob's popularity. Keep this up and I'm gonna start handing out warnings.

Now, let's kindly get back on discussion of the show itself.

While he may not have done it in the most civil way possible, it's plenty okay to talk about why the show isn't good anymore. It's not unreasonable to want good ol' Spongebob back rather than this fake shell of what he used to be.

While I haven't seen this episode (and I don't want to either), I must say that the concept is jumping the shark higher than any other concept in the new episodes so far. The writers aren't even trying to be creative anymore. It looks to me like they're scraping the bottom of the barrel for this new stuff. "Okay guys we need a new episode for Spongebob Squarepants." "Well, let's see... Have we done square pants yet?" Pulease. Seasons 1-3 Spongebob is rolling in his grave.

"Isn't good anymore" is a pretty broad way to describe the show's current quality. And how is it a fake shell? It's not as great as it used to be, but it's still better than a lot of what's on TV and the newer episodes that aired a couple of weeks ago show that the series may very well be on the upswing.

Why do people keep saying this??!!??

"Jump in the shark" does not automatically mean "the show isn't as good as it used to be". It just doesn't. And I can't think of anything that's ever happened on this show that represents Spongebob "jumping the shark". Ugh.

Why do I feel like so many people recently have signed up for this site just to show up in threads like these to complain about why they don't like shows like Spongebob Squarepants. What's the point of the extreme negativity?

No one ever said you can't speak negatively.

What's getting irritating is the amount of people who simply post in a SpongeBob thread to talk about how they want the show to be cancelled simply because they don't like it anymore or because they believe its interfering with the popularity of other shows.

So the gist of this is to say "I have not watched this episode but because its not early SpongeBob it must be terrible".

That's exactly the kind of attitude that is plaguing these threads, since it makes it hard for those of us who still enjoy it to actually discuss the series without having to hear the chorus of negativity that comes from these former fans. Don't like it, don't watch it. It's as simple as that.

I came to talk about cartoons. I don't know about anybody else. I've been a fan of animation for my entire life, and I was the biggest Spongebob connoisseur for years. I'm angry because I got cheated.

I thought about writing a long retort, but I'll reserve my thoughts on the issue for when it's necessary and relevant.
