Who's you're fav old School Hanna Barbera character..?

    Like This Thread!
I'd have to say my favorite was Hong Kong Phooey..

He was pretty awesome back in the day to me as there were never many episodes featuring heros that knew karate, aside from the rare anime that played in the 1980s.

I'm more of a Huckleberry Hound fan. Sure he was more HB's everyman character, but he got himself into a lot of funny and weird situations in the classic era.

I couldn't stand most of the old school Hanna Barbera cartoons besides Space Ghost and the Wacky Racers crew.

Old-school H-B characters I liked include: the Flintstones; Pixie and Dixie (and Mr. Jinks); Huckleberry Hound; Secret Squirrel; Scooby-Doo; and Quick-Draw McGraw.

While they were created for MGM, my favorite Hanna-Barbera characters are Tom and Jerry. As for HB TV characters, I'll say The Jetsons (the 1960's version was great, the 1980's syndication package was a mixed bag, the movie: forget it!)

Re: Who's your fav old school Hanna Barbera character?

I agree, I saw the movie in a special preview, and it was far inferior to the TV series (plus you also got motion sickness from watching the animation). Actually, the Jetsons is about the only case I know of that a classic TV series was successfully extended (the Flintstones tried several times, but never came up with anything judged good enough to join the original classic episodes in syndication, neither HB's 1980s efforts or the Cartoon Network show really added to Jonny Quest).

I liked all the original HB characters in their syndicated shows circa 1960: Huckleberry Hound/Yogi Bear/Quick Draw McGraw. Jonny Quest holds up far better today than the other 1960s actionfests.

I have one personal sentimental favorite: Richochet Rabbit. His psuedo-superheroics (bounce like a pinball at high speed, trick bullets) were fun to watch. And his deputy was the perfect sidekick.

I like Hucklberry Hound, Yogi Bear, Quick Draw McGraw, The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Snagglepuss, Pixie, & Dixie, (With Mr. Jinks) Top Cat, Richochet Rabbit, Magilla Gorilla, Johnny Quest, Space Ghost, The Impossibles, Dick Dastardly, and Mutley. Mostly some of the stuff that's not overrated. (Scooby-Doo anyone?) I agree that The Jetsons was the only series that was able to extand itself after it's original run. Mostly because it stayed true to the basic premise (Even with the addition of Orbity) The Flintstones didn't have much luck with revivals, or extantions (Unless you count "Flintstones On The Rocks") Still, the 60's shows are still the best, and after seeing "Flintstones On The Rocks", I'd love to have Chris Savino & and Dave Smith try to revive Quick Draw McGraw, Hucklberry Hound, or Top Cat.

Auggie Doggie, as I could really relate to him, but I like ALL of the first-wave characters. It is such a shame Hellner had to take Scooby so seriously and forced them to be on at seedy times and on a channel that makes El Dorado, the city of gold, look like something you could find under your bed.
I think Scooby-Doo is knida over-rated and all of the HB Dogs should be praised.
Wouldn't it be great if their could be more Peanuts specials on DVD?
It was just what my career needed - I was at the top and now I'm at the bottom.

At one point, every Scooby series was packaged together in syndication, only 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo and the New Scooby Doo Movies was left out.

I seem to remember The New Scooby-Doo Movies being part of the syndication package when I was growing up.

I think it was in the eighties, then ran as part of USA's run, then when it hit syndication again it was gone.

I'd go with with the all 70's Scooby Doo's and the all 70's Tom and Jerry's also included in the Chuck Jones makings.

Well Chuck Jones did most of his Tom & Jerry cartoons durring the 60's after Gene Deich did A handful of lackluster shorts.
