I'm going to have to say Mickey Mouse. Not the corporate logo Mickey, or the oversized plush toy who greets visitors at Disneyland, but the Mickey Mouse who won over the public back in the 1930's through cartoon shorts and comic strips with his sunny disposition and adventurous spirit in the works of Ub Iwerks, Walt Disney Floyd Gotfredson and others. Not that I don't like Bugs Bunny, though. If Mickey Mouse was Charlie Chaplin, then Bugs Bunny was Groucho Marx.

    Bugs.

Mickey is a wimp, an all-out bore, and I hate him for being a symbol for a tyrannic empire munipulating to the world that animation is JUST FOR KIDS.

Bugs is a risk-taker, a daredevil, a multitalented entertainer, and one who's never afraid to push the envolope a little bit further. He truly deserves to be an American icon. He won my respect early last year and I owe the late Chuck Jones that I will stick with Bugs through thick and thin. Bugs is THE phemonenon that is animation.

    Disney vs. Warner Bros.?

If you compare the studio who gave you "Snow White" and "Winnie the Pooh" to one of the most famous Hollywood powerhouses which is responsible for giving us classics and "Cassablanca", "Lethal Weapon" "Batman", and "The Matrix", is like comparing Barry Manilow to Drowning Pool!

lol between "Snow White" and "The Matrix" (which is the oddest comparison ever!), only one of them can be called a "classic" to me, and it's not the one featuring Keenu Reeves's appalling performance.

I would have to say Bug Bunny. He's just much cooler than Mickey.

Not that I hate Mickey. I think he's ok. It's just that he's not as funny as Bugs Bunny.

I don't hate Mickey by any means, but he's just not as interesting as Bugs. He's the straight man in the world of Disney, whereas everyone in the WB universe is...well...looney. Mickey's adventures are fun to watch, but he's not as FUNNY as Bugs.

Now, if you had a poll choosing between Donald and Daffy, that would be a much tougher call.

Mickey's.....dull. That's pretty much it. He's nice to everyone, he doesn't even really argue with Donald...He's got a steady girlfriend, so that rules out any ladies' man angle, he doesn't have any enemies who are really out to kill him, so there's not much in the way of violence or the need to outwit opponents.....The few jokes he has aren't at all memorable, almost all the movies he's been in (aside from Who Framed Roger Rabbit) were rather boring......Yeah, Mickey's really dull. He's never even crossdressed, for crying out loud! I like Bugs better.

I voted for Bugs, but feel the need to defend Mickey a little because I like him too. A lot of hate seems to be directed towards Mickey because he's seen to represent a current evil empire. If you watch his cartoons, and ignore the crap lumped onto him in recent decades, you'll probably see that he was in plenty of solidly funny stuff. He was great character in the 30s, but not well suited to the 40s and beyond like Donald and Goofy were.

Though I like both Mickey and Bugs,Bugs is much funnier, and his cartoons are much more memorable....

In a bit of a defense for Mickey, understand his comic strip/book counterpart is presented as a more engaged character (with various adventures, enemies [like the Phantom Blot], etc.), though I've never read any of his comics.

But otherwise, I went with Bugs; Mickey to me is kind of dull ("House of Mouse" is the one presentation where he was actually amusing)...

If Bugs and Mickey got in a deathmatch, Bugs would win.

    Mickey is a wuss.

Bugs has already fought against a hunter, sly Coyote, wicked witch and a hairy monster.

Bugs would stick his carrot up Mickey's @ss!

You summed up my feelings exactly. There's nothing WRONG with Mickey by any means, he's just kind of... bland. Bugs, on the other hand, is a legend in his own time. "Ehh... what's up, doc?" Mickey doesn't even have a cool catch phrase like that.

As far as Disney versus WB as companies, on the other hand... both of them have had their successes as well as their blunders. If I had to give one company the edge, I'd have to say WB, just because they're more willing to take risks, and they gave me one of my favorite live action movies (Matrix) and one of my favorite cartoon series (Batman: TAS). Disney hasn't taken a risk since they first did Snow White.

Well, he does have his giggle (Hoo-hwuh?) and his "golly", but that's about it. On paper they don't look like much, but if you add audio, they're quite memorable.

Now Minnie Mouse...there's a bland character. *SHUDDER*

I just want to point out that the oddest comparison ever is actually Barry Manilow/Drowning Pool. I guess this is going to out me as over 18 here, but what the heck is Drowning Pool?

Mickey is okay, but Bugs wins hands down whether it's a coolness contest, a fight, a foot race or a Pillsbury bakeoff.

When Bugs Bunny was listed by TV Guide as the greatest cartoon character of all time, it was the only time I've ever agreed with them on any of their #1 choices. Mickey is a legend in his own right, but can't hold a candle to Bugs in his prime.

Bugs Bunny, who's made me laugh more than Mickey ever could. His voice isn't as high pitched, and, well, annoying. That's the way I feel about it.

Mickey is a virtuous loser and Bugs Bunny is really annoying. Daffy Duck all the way.

I'll admit, the only time Mickey seems the least bit amusing (outside of the comics) is on 'Mickey Mouseworks", or "House Of Mouse". As well as A few video games. Pete, and Mortimer are like his only real enemys. Pete always plays dirty with him, while Mortimer just screws with his mind. (Mickey should at least thank Goofy for giving Pete A hard time as his next door neighbor on "Goof Troop".) Outside of those two offerings, Bugs wins the debate hands down. It would be neat if they used The Phantom Blot more. His only appearance outside of the comics was on the DuckTales episode "All Ducks On Deck". (And was voiced by the great Frank Welker.)

I have always liked Bugs Bunny better. I like Mickey Mouse, not quite as much.
