Brett Ratner brings Hong Kong Phooey to the Big Screen

    Like This Thread!
You thought A live action Scooby-Doo was bad, Hong Kong Phooey is getting the same treatment. This time by Brett Ratner. Wasn't he the same dope who wanted to give Samurai Jack A live action film? Personally, I'd rather have Cartoon Network Studios make A Hong Kong Phooey film (With either Genndy, or Craig at the helm) than see A live action one. Click hear for more info.

Great... just what we didn't need...
I guess this means that we'll be seeing Jimmy's ugly CGI face pop
into all the different Nick shows like he's the all-important god of the
    network. God, I hate Nick.

    Howdy,

Hey, now, come on -- don't be too harsh. I think this could actually work as a movie. It's actually pretty simple:

    1. Ditch the dog and replace him with Jackie Chan.
    2. Ditch the marginally offensive "Hong-Kong Phooey" title for something more politically correct, like, say, Supercop 5 or Return of the Drunken Master.
    3. Ditch the snotty cat, the ditzy cop dispatcher, and the Sarge, and replace them with anybody except Chris Tucker.
    4. Definitely dump the Phooey-mobile. It doesn't need to be replaced.
    5. Ditch just about everything else remotely resembling something from the original cartoon. I'd leave in Scatman Crothers, but he died in '86, so we DEFINITELY don't want him in the movie any more.

If you just make those changes, I think the whole concept is great! Except for the part where they make a Hong-Kong Phooey movie.

I never even heard of Hong Kong Phooey until he was mentioned in Futurama comics #1.

    Y'know...

With the money that Warners is flushing down the toilet with these pointless big movies, they could make a bunch of entertaining little movies. Am I right?

That fool! Is there a fan of the series that actually wants to see a live action version of it. Maybe an animated movie if anything, but a live action movie could only harm it.

    Good Lord.

A "Hong Kong Phooey" CGI-live-action movie. *Sigh*... the very idea is so odd (a live-action movie based on a minor H-B cartoon series from 30 years ago, that (as others noted) kids these days probably haven't even heard of?), I won't bother coming up with one of my usual "KWB promo parodies" for *this* one.

Watched "Phooey" in reruns on USA back in the 80's...

Why can't they just make it a fully ANIMATED film!? Just because live action Scooby Doo made a lot of money doesn't mean this dog will.
