I don't really have a specific episode that I hate, but I do think that pretty much every episode after the redesigns of the characters were below average and possibly the worst ones. The original episodes were fantastic. They were funny, creative, engaging, and kept you watching, but the episodes after the redesigns just didn't seem to have the same feeling.

I'll have to agree, the episodes after Ego Trip just weren't as good.
I don't think they should have brought it back after that.

    But that's just me.

Here are a few I dislike. They are episodes where everything goes from bad to worse for Dexter:

    Mind Over Chatter:
Dexter builds a mind-reader machine to read Dad's thoughts. But it goes haywire and the machine works the polar opposite way. Now Dexter's the most hated person in town because everyone can hear his opinions and insults from his mind. Plus the ending made it lamer.

Dexter Detention: Dexter winds up in detention after an accidental slip-up and breaks out...only to wind up in jail. Totally pointless other than being an homage to The Great Escape.

The Old Switcharooms: Dexter and DeeDee get sent to each other's rooms and Dexter gets paranoid about DeeDee trashing his lab. Ironically, she doesn't even go in and Dexter becomes so paranoid he trashes DeeDee's room, thus literally putting him in the doghouse.

I find it hard to believe there are bad episodes of Dexter's Lab. They must all be part of some imaginary season that Genndy didn't work on that NEVER HAPPENED. EVER.

I always hated Labretto. I just found the singing more obnoxious than funny. There might be more episodes but I haven't seen Dexter's in a coot's age.

I just thought of one I hated.

    "Another Dad Cartoon".

I agree to both. While I do enjoy the later ones after Ego Trip sometimes, they aren't ones I hold close. I think for me, it was the background art in them, In the originals, they felt to me well-done, like they were done at a slow pace for detail and colored nice. The later ones looked rushed, and imo, didn't have as much detail in them.

Can't say I remember any of the episodes Post-Genndy but one that quickly comes to mind from season one is "Dimwit Dexter". It only gets weirder after Deedee puts him in a dress. The short that was tacked on to the Powerpuff Girls Movie "Chicken Scratch" is even worst since it's gross and not the least bit funny

I don't put any of the post-Genndy episodes on my worst list for the simple reason that I generally didn't like any of them. The series ended with "Last But Not Beast" and should've stayed that way as far as I'm concerned. In fact, much of the post-Genndy era is so forgettable that many of those shorts are a hazy blur to me.

Regarding the Genndy episodes, however, a few come to mind:

The aforementioned "Dimwit Dexter". Not funny, unnecessarily stretched out and tad mean-spirited, especially on Dee-Dee's part.

"Dexter Debt". Dexter somehow owes ton of money or his lab will be repo'ed, so he spends the entire short trying (and of course, failing) to make money, meanwhile, money of course just keeps falling into Dee-Dee's lap so naturally Dex has to swallow his pride and ask Dee-Dee for the cash to bail him out, on the condition that she be given carte blanche to enter his lab and wreak havoc in it. I didn't like any of the shorts which followed the basic formula of "let's dump on Dexter while rewarding Dee-Dee for 7 minutes".

There was another short (of which I'm blanking on the title right now) in which Dexter and Dee-Dee compete on a game show. It's another "let's dump on Dexter while rewarding Dee-Dee for 7 minutes" short, so I instantly didn't like it. Dex is repeatedly humiliated and abused throughout the story, then when he finally gets a question right, he's taunted by the host and the audience for being a nerd. In some shorts it's Dexter himself who triggers the processes that flay him, but in others he's just the victim of arbitrary mistreatment by other characters and the universe in general. The shorts which follow the latter formula simply didn't work for me.

What I really didn't like in this episode was when they had to ask each other what their favorite thing was and Dexter just puts down his laboratory. I thought he was a genius.

"Framed" was one of the worst episodes from Dexter's Laboratory. I always get annoyed by Dee Dee, when she was making fun of Dexter and his glasses.

    Red face

I didn't really watch any of the new seasons, so I don't really have much to say, but "Chicken Scratch" (or whatever it was called) was one of the lamer episodes for me, because:

    A. Dexter, normally knowledgeable in everything, hasn't a clue what chicken pox is. (: I was hit with an idiot ball! Deedee!)

    B. Is stupid enough to buy into Deedee's whacked out tale that chicken pox is caused by evil chickens pecking you and making you turn into one of them. (: Was I really that naive?)

    C. The gross out nature of the short, namely the close ups of Dexter's bumps. (: I need my privacy! Get out of my laboratory!)

    D. Dexter of course, winds up turning into an evil chicken, just because he can. (: Arrgh...)

Like the other episodes from that season, it just wasn't up to the usual standards. (: I liked it! : Deedee! Get out of my laboratory!)

Yeah this is totally odd. IIRC Last but not beast was a great finale and Ego Trip was a cool movie send off. There's nothing after them, nope.

But yeah Dimwit Dexter was pretty bad. Way too mean spirited. The only show with a "let's dump on the MC" mode of comedy that I liked is Johnny Bravo, since he never seemed to be phased by it, and most of the time deserved it.

"A Dad Cartoon," "A Third Dad Cartoon" and "Game for a Game" are my pics.
Cheis Savino's take-over reminds me a lot of the inferior Larry Doyle attempts at making new Looney Tunes shorts in 2003.
But this doesn't belong in this sub-forum. It should go into the Cartoon Network sub-forum, as this show is NOT classic in any way (even if Boomerang reruns it.)

Dexter's Lab debuted in 1995, 17 years ago. It's old enough to be considered retro now, and it currently runs more frequently on Boomerang than it does on Cartoon Network.

While "classic" is a purely subjective term (which is why I try to avoid using the word in online discussions), some will undeniably disagree with the sentiment that Dexter "is NOT classic in any way", and not just because the show is close to 2 decades old. It was the very 1st Cartoon-Cartoon, thus getting that ball rolling, and many people grew up with show and to this day remember it fondly.

Dexter's Lab didn't debuted in 1995; the pilots did, actually. The show "offically" debuted on April 27, 1996. But it's still considered retro, though. That's why its home belongs to Boomerang.

Oh and another hated episode I watched was "Sister Mom". On how Dexter treated his mother (Dee Dee in disguise) unfairly and how Dee Dee made fun of Dexter and called him names like "dork". The ending was the worst part of the episode. Trust me, you'll get angry.

Thanks, but I was counting the original WAC! shorts, which were later integrated into the show's 1st season. I was counting the franchise as a whole.
