Another new episode of "Tom and Jerry Tales" airs today,

Episode #3 - Way Off Broadway / Egg Beats / Cry Uncle
    Original Airdate - October 7, 2006

Way Off Broadway: Tom and Jerry compete against each other for the people's attention by showing off their playing of musical instruments.

Egg Beats: Tom gets annoyed when Jerry's continuous listening to booming of music causes the hen that he farms to lay eggs at a rapid rate.

Cry Uncle: Jerry's Uncle Pecos comes back to town and his endless singing and guitar-playing starts aggravating Tom and Jerry.

Well the art direction seems to have taken a turn for the worse - these are no where near as well animated as the shorts in the previous two episodes.

I missed the actual airing, but I've seen all these shorts on the DVD that was released this past week. I didn't even make it half-way through "Way-Off Broadway" before I turned it off. "Egg Beats" was also very painful to watch. The whole thing should have just taken place at the farm. The set-up in the city was pointless. "Cry Uncle" was decent, if only for the return of an actual classic T&J character. But once again the animation let me down.

How many episodes were made of this show? Only one episode worth of shorts is on the DVD and since they include a Christmas episode I think this episode is being held off until the holidays get closer.

This was the first full episode of T&J Tales I had seen (aside from the "Fish Fight" short that I had seen on YouTube) and I wasn't really all that impressed. I still plan to check out the DVD at some point (its on my Netflix list). I did chuckle a couple times, but I don't think this is a show I'd go out of my way to catch.

"Way Off Broadway" and "Egg Beats" didn't really feel like Tom & Jerry cartoons to me. I could have easily pictured almost any cartoon character thrown into those generic plots. It was nice seeing Uncle Pecos again, but I couldn't help comparing it to the superior "Pecos Pest" (which did most of the same gags 100 times funnier).

I could have also done without seeing Tom having birds crap on his head.

I believe they did 13 episodes... it looks like Kids WB starts airing reruns next weekend.

This is the first time I've been able to catch the new "Tom & Jerry Tales", and I'm must say I'm a little dissapointed. I'm a huge T&J fan and it really didn't feel like it. It seems as though I could picture these episodes, but with other characters. The first one "Way Off Broadway" was odd, it took place in the city, and the whole copying eachother bit, got old pretty quick. Though when Jerry kept switching the music station I laughed at how Tom instantly changed, and adapted so quicky .

The second episode "Egg Beats" was a bit pecular as well, Tom's a farmer, who can't seem to get any eggs out of his one chicken. Luckly for him Jerry stops by, and has a rather pumping music playing from his car. Which inturn causes the chicken to finally produce a huge amount of eggs, and after that its pretty cliche. All Tom does is attempt to find new storage facilities to store his eggs, until he drives off in Jerry's little toy car. Not a rather tribute to the classics.

"Cry Uncle" has to be the closest attempt at being faithful to the originals. I really enjoyed it when the uncle would appear back than, he still hasn't lost it . I loved it when Tom finally broke his guitar, (I don't think he's ever done that?) and he went outside to play a harmonica, and just like magic a new guitar appeared *classic*
The ending was surprising, he all of a sudden has a wife?

With all its flaws, I still found it amusing. Hopefully the WB will listen to our critisism and improve, because with a little work I could easily see this getting better, and becoming the next Scooby Doo (not including 'Shaggy and Scooby Get A Clue).

Agreed on all of that. I could have also done without seeing those eggs flying out of the chicken's posterior.

"Cry Uncle" had some good bits (Pecos pulling out one of Tom's claws to use as a guitar pick). But, like the show as a whole, it could have been better....

I only saw "Cry Uncle" and part of "Egg Beats," not too bad an episode. I noticed a few bathroom jokes (Ex: Pigeons pooping on Tom's head, Tom flushing Pecos, guitar down the toilet). Seems like they're using stuff they couldn't have used back in the 50s T&J cartoons.

Grandma: No. Heavens to betsy, child. Why would you think such a thing? Just because my chili gravy won a blue ribbon at the county fair and yours didn't even place. Who am I to tell you how to make sausage gravy? The Green County gravy champion, that's who.

Come to think of it...did we EVER see a toilet bowl in any classic era Tom and Jerry cartoon?

It seems Kids WB is going into repeats already but there are several more episodes to be aired. Hopefully the shorts (and the animation) will improve.

My question however is this: just what will they do if this show continues getting good ratings? Only 13 episodes were initually made and that was sometime last year. Remember this show has already aired in the UK. Is this show just going to air for only a year or is there a chance they'll go back and make more?

I was LMAO during "Cry Uncle" when the uncle started to sing and Tom jumped into the house and ate him. I didn't laugh at anything else. But the show is really entertaining to me even when I'm not laughing. But I like seeing this kind of show on during saturday morning. It takes me back to when I was growing up and these kind of cartoons were on all the time during saturday morning.

First off, I highly doubt this show is getting a second season. Technically, its not even a new show. It's been airing in the UK since 2005.

Secondly, though a few shorts do try to break free of mediocrity, this show is NOTHING like the original shorts.
