The Popeye cartoons aren't merely colorized - they were redrawn by the Koreans and colorized. You aren't really seeing a Popeye Cartoon - you are seeing a recreation of a Popeye cartoon. It would be nice if Boomerang would offer the Black and White versions in the wee hours - or just show CN's Popeye Show at those hours.
