    "Beefer Madness" Talkback

This was originally on the "do not rerun" pile. I go through a cycle with each of my stories: first I love them, then I hate them, then I gradually form an objective opinion after I don't remember most of the jokes and read it fresh again. What I do remember is hating "Beefer Madness" early.

Maybe this was because it wasn't a singular story, but a patchwork of smaller stories that wouldn't be long enough on their own. After reading it again and actually laughing this time, I think that actually works to its benefit as you can't guess which way the plot is going to go next (and unless you've read this before, you HAVEN'T A CHANCE of guessing correctly how this thing ends).

Scary: Darcy's page-long description of a DC Comics story is authentic.

It was originally written here and I asked if I could use Ein's write-up.
Unbelievable....I didn't even use all of it! And you wonder why comics have been in trouble...

    "Where'd the waterfall come from?"

Also, capping off the "Infinite Crisis" synopsis with the Pip Pumphandle reference means that you are now officially made of win.

There's the rest of it. What the ending boils down to is that I needed a Halloween story yet was still stuck completing this one.

Wow, a Harriet Miers reference...that's old already. (For all future generations, President Bush almost appointed Harriet to the Supreme Court, yet she declined after negative reactions.)

I've met people like Darcy, I must admit...although they weren't vampires and I was able to refrain from duct-taping them to the nearest wall.

"However, the missiles need a place to detonate, so President Bush has chosen New Orleans, because in his words, 'it's not like you can mess it up any further'."

You, sir, are a genius. And yes, that ending is pure brilliance.
