As usual with Rankin-Bass, "Cricket on the Hearth" was animated in Japan. In this case, it was a company called TCJ (Television Corporation of Japan), the studio that made 1960s anime classics like "Gigantor", "Prince Planet", and "8th Man". This was the only time TCJ ever worked for Rankin-Bass, or any American production. Probably for a good reason.
TCJ is still in business today. The company's name was changed to Eiken in 1973.
They probably should have cut some of the bits for a few more songs.
The Lady Gaga thing was more disturbing. I tried watching but her dancers freaked me out too much. Dancing that is too exact seems soulless somehow. Like they are being controlled by a microchip implanted in their spine or they are under threat of having children electrically shocked if they mess up.
