But I agree it is unrealistic and stupid. :anime:
The Rugrats are still stuck in 1991 obviously, because they haven't gotten any older. Can anyone tell me how all the events that have happened through out this series 12 year run could ever possibly have taken place over the course of one year, especially Dedes pregnancy! God, a pregnancy lasts 9 months, which is nearly one year alone!

it's just like the Simpsons... there's obviously time passing, but then no time passes... it's all to help keep everything timeless. Think of everything that has happened on the Simpsons over the years and how many things have happened that make it impossible to happen in a short period of time...
I know, not two shows that are on the same level, but it makes the same point... in that, they are going for a "timeless" feel instead of one where you have to worry about the characters aging, and all...
Don't you people understand!?!
And when they do flashbacks Marge and Homer are still teenagers in the 70's. Of course in their case they're semi-aware of this.Originally Posted by Colin

How appropriate. You fight like a cow
and i guess that puts the thornberrys in the 1991 too.
and real monsters was in 1991. cause it was a show on tv the rugrats watched, when they had that fantasy about that ghost story.
i'd like to be in 1991 right now, with about 10 more years to prepare myself emotionally for the 2001 terrorist attacks.. but we all can't have what we want.
thank god sd-gundam's series finale is not in 1991but today. so i'll watch that. MMM.
Maybe we're the ones stuck in 1991.
...Or maybe I've just been eating too much Mexican food.

If that's true than that's very eerie. I'm just glad that some tv shows like Futurama, aren't stuck in the same year.Originally Posted by Jaguar
Well that means all grown up will probably be "stuck" in 2001 for it's run. On a pretty much unrelated note, anyone else notice that the Pre Teens in "All Grown Up" look a LOT taller and older then the pre teens in "As Told By Ginger" despite them all being about the same age? It's the same company that makes the show so why would there be such a diffrence like that.
I don't mind the rugrats, because they have a timeless feel to them. However most of the Simpsons episodes are pretty dated, and I do wish that the characters would age atleast a little. Although at this point Bart would be in prison.

Because Rugrats was a decent series in 1991.![]()
No realy I haven't watched Rugrats in years but I understand what you mean. It realy doesn't just relate to Rugrats but many (If not most) cartoons series are this way much like was said with the Simpsons.
