"Leaping Lanny and Randy Savage are brothers, and Randy Savage, your name is Randy Poffo. THAT'S RIGHT, RANDY POFFO. You're ashamed of going around calling yourself Poffo so you probably got the name Savage because you're ashamed of putting yourself on the same level as your brother because he is much better than you are. YOUR BROTHER IS A HUMAN BEING. YOU'RE NOTHING BUT A SCUMBAG. THAT'S WHAT YOU ARE; YOU'RE A DOG. YOUR NAME IS POFFO." - Ronnie Garvin to Randy Savage, ICW Wrestling, 1980.

By the way, have you ever noticed that Arnold looks exactly like an animated Marshall Mathers?
I can't believe it just ended like that. What happens between Helga and Arnold?

OMG! That was such a great episode! I will miss Hey Arnold! It was probably the first nicktoon that I ever really got hooked on.
Spoiler:
BTW, I missed the first 20 min. Did they say Arnold's last name?
Too bad Nick has decided to cancel Hey Arnold! and yet continue the boring Rugrats with a spinoff and like 5 more seasons than Hey Arnold under its belt already.![]()

::sniffle:: the only Nicktoon in HISTORY that has ever made me cry was Hey Arnold, and if this is truly the end of the series, it was a beautiful finale. Well balanced between comedy (Grandma and the Wedding Scene being my favorites) and sadness....

This is off-topic but i didnt know where else to ask this - can anybody start a talkback thread or do u need to be a moderator? Because id love to start a talkback thread about the GI Joe cartoons on Cartoon Network now.
Anyone can start a talkback topic.
This episode was do great with drama, action, and comedy. It's sad to see such a great cartoon end with an episode like this. For those of you who don't know, this was going to lead stright to a second movie. But since Bartlet(sp?) decided to make some shorts for Cartoon Network and the Hey Arnold Movie not doing good, you can bet we will never see the movie. I'd love to see that kind of movie, I think the first one should've been shown on the TV and sold on video so it wouldn't have ended the second movie hope. I liked how Grandma is so insane and how Grandpa always had some wisecrack about something, like how Arnolds da asked Shelly to get married and Gradpa said "She said no, now roll the credits" and the
"They lived happely ever after in the temple"-Grandpa
"But where would they go to the bathroom"-Grandma
"Well that was another mystery, oops I got to go again"-Grandpa

I was once called Patrick Star....a looooooong time ago.........then I needed a break.
I'd be happy if ANYONE remembered me!
Having been a semi-faithful fan to this series, I'm sorry to see it go but I'm glad to see it go out in glory. This is now my new favorite episode and it probably will continue to be so.
Despite the fact that Grandpa's trips to the bathroom got annoying, the episode actually turned out very nice. We already new some about this whole thing from the Parents' Day episode but now, I'm glad we found out so much more. Except it still bothers me that we don't know exactly what happened to Arnold's parents.
See 'ya later, Arnold. If only Nickelodeon wasn't full of a** holes, then you probably would've lived longer.
R.I.P.

Seriously this was a beautiful episode and I loved Craig Bartlett and Antoinette Stella's performances as Arnold's parents. I am so glad I taped it
God I hate Nick now for canning this show. I really do.........bastards.
Sorry that's the emotional sting talking
I'm not that trusting. I kept my finger on the trigger the whole time
WOW. A True Work Of Art. Only Parents Day, Summer Love And Helga On The Couch Can Even ATTEMPT To Come Close To This Episode.
Among The Best Nicktoon Episodes Ever Created, And One Of The New Millenium's Most Brilliant Creations To Ever Come Out Of A Cartoon Aimed At Children, If Not The Best 2000-2002 US Cartoon Episode So Far. So, Let The Talkback Begin!
"The Journal"
Animation: The Animation Is Top-Notch And Some Scenes Even Looked STRAIGHT Out Of "Arnold Saves The Neighborhood". Awesome. For A 2-D Cartoon, This Is Some Amazing Stuff.
Animation Grade: A
SFX/Music/Voices: The Sound Effects Were Okay. Nothing To Remember, But Decent Enough. The Music Was Average HA! Stuff, But Set The Mood Brilliantly And Had Some Of The Best Compositions Since "Helga On The Couch" And "Dino Strikes Out". The Voices, However, Were Hit Or Miss. Stinky's Voice Made Me Want To Kill Something, And Arnold's Voice Got Annoying, Too. (At Times, He Even Sounded Pre-Pubesent, And At One Other Time I Can Recall, He Sounded Kinda Like If Someone Had Just Hit Him In The Groin) Eduardo, Stella And Phil's VA's I Gotta Give Honors To. They Stole The Show. Amazing.
SFX/Music/Voices Grade: B+
Background Character Use: Well... This Was Dissapointing. Apart From The Cute Little "Arnold Babies" Moment, There Was Not Much Use For Background Characters, Exept Phil, Eduardo And Gertie. Helga's Scene Really Dissapointed Me, But It Was For The Best, As It Would Have Taken From The Tender And Humorous Main Plot Of "The Journal".
BCU Grade: B-
Plot: This Is It. Although The Story Snippets I've Heard From Craig For "The Jungle Movie" Are Pretty Damn Amazing, I Have To Say, This Is The BEST Series Finale In Nicktoons, With The Possible Exeption Of "Angry Beavers". The Plot Was AMAZING, And The Humor Was Beyond Ingenius, (Arnold! Go Order Chinese! Had Me In Stitches) And Although I Would Have Made This A Bit More Serious, But The Sheer Warmth And Emotion Of The More "Tender" Scenes Was Incredible. The Cliffhanger At The End Not Only Made Me Want More, It Didn't Make Me Angry, Just Amazed. What A Great Episode, I Thought. And Ladies & Gentlemen, I Am Completely Amazed At What A Great Job Craig & Co. Did With The Plot.
Plot Grade: Gold Star.
Well, I Can Say I Watched Something Where "Classic" Is A Bit Tame. Without A Doubt, Hey Arnold! My Favorite Nicktoon, (Tied With ZIM) Has Finally Ended, But At Least It Went Out With Something Even More Than A Bang.
I Give "The Journal" A Gold Star, And More, If i Could Come Up With Something Higher.
WATCH PARANOIA AGENT
...please?
The Journal was meant to be the 'lead in' to the 'Jungle Movie', where Arnold searches for his family. Craig B. recently chatted with the Arnold online community and suggested people send in lots of snail mail if they want the movie to possibly be produced.
Here's the full chat transcript:

I'm not a big fan of "Hey, Arnold!", but I did manage to catch this. It was actually pretty entertaining. I've never seen a Nicktoon showcase this much drama and the humor was spot-on. Man, I feel sorry as hell for Arnold. Too bad we still don't know his last name and even though they never explicitly say what happened to his parents, I think it's plainly obvious what happened.
"Hey, Arnold!", we hardly knew ye.
"The advance is hip right now, but the original has a place in my heart, unlike pocket which only had the plastic grey, though color had killer appies for things like the sewing machine, not much use for virtual anymore, huh."
This was an amazing episode. There were absolutely no flaws whatsoever.
The plot was simply fantastic. Drama and comedy are not always good things to combine, but in this case they were balanced out perfectly.
This one had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. There was hardly a moment when I wasn't laughing or crying.
It was realy great to finally be able to follow Arnold's parents around on their adventures. This was something I've wanted to do for a long time.
I thought it was very interesting how Stella had to give birth just when the volcano started spewing lava.It was also interesting how the volcano stopped erupting at the exact moment Arnold was born. It obviously means something important.
Speaking of giving birth, I thought it was histerical when Phil freaked out and told Arnold to go order chinese when they came across a certain page. We all know what was written on that page.
Yes, Phil and Gertie were histerical as always. Loved Phil's constant storytelling, same as always. And it was histerical when Gertie started rambling about Prince Charle's wedding, as if that's how Arnold's parents got married. It was typical when Gertie belched at the exact moment Arnold's last name was announced.
The animation was incredible. Quite a change from the very first season, when the animation was quite close to being horrible.
The voice acting was great as well. I didn't find anything annoying about Stinky's voice. It was deeper, yeah, but that's what happens when one goes through puberty, nothing you can do about it.
Helga's little scene was nice. In most cases I would have wished she was in it more, as she's my favorite character, but this episode really didn't need her, and it would have taken away from the focus of Arnold and his parents if she had been more involved.
It was so sad near the end, when they came to the last page of the journal.I actually started crying.
Just like Mackenzie, this is the only nicktoon that has ever made me cry, and not just in this episode. I also cryed during Parents Day, Helga on the Couch, and Operation: Ruthless.
The ending was fantastic. Arnold finding that map was such a great way to end the episode. The music during that scene was also great. It sucks that this is probably going to be the last episode. It also sucks that the ending will probably never be resolved, but hey, as pabcool said, at least it went out with a bang, and a spectacular bang at that. And who knows, if we send enough mail to those morons at Nick, they just might give us that second movie.
All in all, this episode was fantastic, amazing, wonderful, spectacular, and any other possible words for really great.
20/10
See ya!
Blight
The Joker: "Tell me something, my friend. You ever dance with the devil by the pale moonlight?"
Bruce Wayne: "What?"
The Joker: "I always ask that of all my prey. I just like the sound of it." BANG!
All I have to say is WOW. I REALLY hope this isn't the end. HA! has became one of the only nicktiins I like. Please, make sure this is not the end!
Wait, TVtome says there's a journal part 2?
lol wut
I saw the episode last night:
Pros:
- the terrific story
- the vocal performances of Craig Bartlett (makes sense that he voiced Arnold's father; he is, in a way, Arnold's father) and Antoinette Stella
- the moments of drama and adventure
- Jim Lang's music
Cons:
- while he didn't do a bad job, Alex D. Linz was not the best person to voice Arnold
- the ridiculous bathroom breaks just felt jarring; I know they had to go to commercial, but man!
- I don't remember Gertie being quite this irritating; maybe, it's just me
- ending on a cliffhanger?! Rip-off!
Grade: B
I feel that a big problem with today's society is that we don't listen to our fellow man -- especially when I'm talking.
"Never be afraid to borrow from those wiser than yourself." - Mr. Jimmy (voice of David Arquette) on "Pelswick"
