Any coments?SpongeBob leaves fans all wet

It was mayhem at the South Shore Plaza the other night when more than 2,000 Krabby SpongeBob SquarePants fans were turned away after waiting hours to have their picture snapped with the Krusty Krab's head frycook.
``Mothers were fighting, kids were crying and the police had to escort SpongeBob out,'' said Caroline Casey of Walpole, who was shopping at the Braintree mall when the SpongeBob incident reached its saturation point. ``It was like he was Elvis.''
Ha! If Squidward could see old SpongeBob now!
The costumed SpongeBob character - whose cartoon counterpart and his pals, Patrick, Gary and Mr. Krabs, are the No. 1 ratings draw on Nickelodeon - was slated to appear for three hours in the mall's center court early Wednesday evening. But by the time Bikini Bottom's most famous resident surfaced, the line stretched from Filene's all the way to Macy's.
``There were about 2,500 kids and parents,'' said Someone Who Knows. ``They did 100 photos per hour - which is a lot - but that's only 300 kids. You do the math.''
Well, by our count, that leaves some 2,200 Krabby customers when it came time for SpongeBob to return to his Pineapple Under The Sea. And while the kids in line were still crying ``I'm ready!'' SpongeBob had left the building.
``SpongeBob may be square but he sure was hip last night,'' said South Shore Plaza marketing director Linnea Kelliher.
So hip that mall security and a Braintree police detail officer had to help him escape the angry mob.
``Mothers were yelling, calling each other names and accusing each other of cutting the line,'' Casey said. ``Kids were crying, yelling `SpongeBob!' It was unreal.''
File Under: Spongeworthy.![]()

That's what you get for being everything that's WRONG with nickolodean today Spongebob
I'd Rather Watch Dragonball Z
I said the exact same thing about American Idol a few days ago, and here it's no different.
"...Disturbing how worked up people get over television."
Later.
IT WAS A MAD HOUSE! My god kids were just jumping all over the place! It was so spooky, I didn't even get my photo taken, I got out of there @_@ There were about 100 PMSing soccor moms and a thousand kids screaming at the top of their lungs XP
Good grief. That's just sad how people can act that way. I feel sorry for the guy who was in the Spongebob suit.![]()
I feel sorry for that guy too. I hope he gets paid a lot.Originally posted by KoKo

You can see muntant chipmunks!
Where did this take place, anyway?
South Shore Plaza is in Massachusetts. Braintree, to be precise.
And they call anime evil. Ha amazing how these ladies want to stand up and be counted when it comes to getting rid of the evil that T.V displays and being good parents that try to raise their kids on good moral ground ,then they act no better than the kids they bring to the store it's disgusting . Reminds me of when I was at wal-mart I had a CSM tell me that when she workde at another wal-mart parents were steeling toys from shopping carts as well as kids hands.
Let me out.
$3 an hour isn't worth being trampled to death by soccer moms and screaming children.I hope he gets paid a lot.![]()
It's amazing how immature people can get over a picture. It would be even worse if the picture taken was with "Goku" or "Ash".
Unfortunately, this type of behavior is nothing new. Rewind a little more than 8 years to late 1993/early 1994, and replace Spongebob Squarepants with Power Rangers and you have the exact same situation. The Christmas 1993 shopping season saw the same type of behavior for PR toys as the Spongebob incident above. I remember seeing the President's Day 1994 news stories about the Power Rangers' appearance at Universal Studios Hollywood completely selling out the theme park and clogging up the L.A. freeway system even more than it usually is. A CBS News special from 1994 described the Power Rangers as "The Beatles of kids' TV" so I guess the Elvis comparison for Spongebob is appropriate. Some people do take their TV viewing a little too seriously, don't they?
Yep, they do. It's not like they'll never have him come back again.
Do you guys remember the Tickle Me Elmo dolls? About 5 years ago they were the "must have" items of the Holiday season and people went to insane lengths (and HUGE sums of money) to get them
Anyway, during this time I was in Toys 'R Us with my little sisters (we were spending our Chanukah money) and two men were in a fist fight over one of these stupid Elmo dolls!! They knocked over a Barbie display (barely missing me and my youngest sister) and it took about 10 security guards to stop them!
It sickens me that an adult would act like that. I just hope that their kids weren't around to see the fight.

Sounds like the people who planned that SpongeBob photo session should have planned a little better, like wait until after summer vacation, added an extra hour or two, and maybe an extra day.
Had this happened out my way, say Crystal Run or Woodbury Commons, especially this time of year when the "Year-Rounders" have to put up with the "nuts" that visit us every summer and something like a SpongeBob photo session was happening, I think the consequences would be a lot more (*Ahem!*) interesting...
And maybe nastier...
If I was a security guard there I would have taken the Elmo doll and held it in front of the two men saying, "You want it? You want it?" and then I would have ripped it's head off. "Now no one gets it."Originally posted by BrendaBat
