    Invader ZIM: Basic Questions

    Like This Thread!
    1. Why am I just NOW finding out about this great program? Did it debut in 2001 like Justice League & Samurai Jack?

    2. How many eps have been aired to date?

    3. Why can't we get a consistent sched from NICK??? I think it's on Sundays at 1pm, but then they air it at noon, then they air it at 1 again but only show a half-hr. Then we only gt 15 minutes on Fridays. And they ditched the 4am schedule. Who's responsible for this chaos? Gir???

I wish ZIM was on CN. Then maybe we'd get a groove going. Could ZIM possibly find a home on MTV, given the whole Hot Topic merchandising campaign?

    1. It's been on for a while now. It's currently in its second (and thanks to Nick, final) season.

    2. Not sure on that one. Considering Nick only aired HALF of the latest episode, I guess it will have to end in a ".5"

    3. Because, basically, Nick sucks. They gotta make sure that their Rugrats, Rocket Power, & Butt Ugly Martians get their 75% of the air time, so that leaves Zim playing Musical Timeslot with the other shows.

Careful what you say in regarding Zim coming to CN.. .that topic has been beaten like a dead horse on TOO many occasions. It would be nice, but considering that Nick holds on to its cancelled shows with a death grip, don't expect to see it anywhere else for a LONG time (if ever.)
My origins have been clouded in mystery... some say that I was once a man, known as Hamato Yoshi. Another tale states that I was once merely a humble pet rat of a man named Hamato Yoshi. For the record allow me to state that both are true... and yet, neither is true. Such is the way of Ninjitsu.

    1.) Zim premiered on March 30, 2001.

2.) In the US, Nick has aired 19.5* episodes, made of 31 15 minute segments, and 4 half-hour specials.

3.) I'll refer to ButteredToast's response for this question.

*Like ButteredToast said, Nick only aired half of "Hobo 13/Walk For Your Lives" last week, making it only .5 of an episode.

    Somewhere between 30-40.

Gir???
It's on every Friday night at 9:30PM PST/EST. It hasn't changed on Friday nights, so just watch it there and don't worry about it.

And blame the mismanagement at Nickelodeon for the chaotic schedules on Sundays. They're a crappy channel.

I wish ZIM was on CN. Then maybe we'd get a groove going. Could ZIM possibly find a home on MTV, given the whole Hot Topic merchandising campaign?
MTV and Nicktoons Studio are teaming up to make a 24/7 Nicktoons Channel. It's going to be launched as early as 2003, and ZIM will be a part of the lineup.

Just to replay previous replies, 19 and a half episodes have aired in the US. The full 20 episodes of the first season have aired in Australia and England. The second season of 7 episodes will air throughout the rest of the year, ending in mid-December for the Christmas special.

    WHAT?! Aww, crap!

Don't you just hate it when news gets stretched across the entire country, and you don't even notice it? That sort of thing makes me mad.

You got that right. I wouldn't watch 'Rugrats' if you paid me all the money on Earth, I loathe and detest that show so much. 'Rocket Power' also sucks the big one. I'm so tired of shows about kids who are ultra-athletes. There is absolutely no excuse for 'Butt Ugly Martians' at all. Whoever got that show made is a total and complete...UGH. Can't say it. ><

    Mad Scientist,
30-40 EPS?! Are you MAD? (okay, so maybe that was repeditive) Now if you mean 30-40 15 min. pieces then okay maybe, but my concept of an episode is 2, 15 minute stories, or 1, 30 minute story. Your concept generally backs Nick's thinking that Half an episode is as good as a whole. So please! Of our 1.5 seasons, we've seen approx 20 episodes, with around 7 to be aired yet (in the US anyway) Nick's schizo programming department makes this number hard to nail down.
I'd be a much happier worm-baby if they had actually MADE 30-40 Eps, but that sadly is NOT the case. oh anyway i just saw Dr. reef clarifies this. I will still post to add to the mountain of bad karma Nick is collecting.

Yeah, I think he's talking about individual stories. In which case, 35 "stories" (as either an 11-minute part or a 22-minute spectacular) have aired in America, and 36 have aired in England and Australia. 10 stories are left in America, 9 in UK/AU.

According to my Zim encoding source, there's 27 episodes in all.

That makes for 38 15-minute stories and 8 30-minute stories.

    Uh, yeah, I was wondering...

Exactly what is this "Invader Zim" show? Me being a Canadian with no access to Nickelodeon (how long have they had their own channel??) and CN, I've never quite really gotten a grasp on what it's about.

The basic plot is laid out in the pilot episode...

The Irkens, a proud alien race, wish to have a universe wide invasion. They had tried this once before, but the plan was ruined by a misfit invader by the name of Zim. While preparing for the second invasion, Zim demands a position. In an attempt to get rid of him, the leaders of the Irken race send Zim off into space to nowhere in particular. They give him his "robot companion" (in the show, he is named GIR) and send him off, hoping he never returns. By accident, Zim winds up on Planet Earth. He sets up his base there, gives himself and GIR disguises, and begins his mission: To observe the planet Earth and discover any weaknesses it has.

Disguising himself as a normal young human boy, Zim begins to go to school. Despite the crappiness of his disguise, no one realizes that he is an alien...except for an alien-obsessed boy named Dib. Dib spends the show trying his best to stop Zim and prove to everyone that he is an alien.

And that's the bare bones plot (hope I didn't miss anything). The humor of the show comes from the wackiness of the situations and just plain silliness.

And I'm one of the lucky ones who gets Nicktoons TV. Rocko's Modern Life is on right now. ^_^
