    Another Nick Victim

    Like This Thread!
The Angry Beavers, about beaver brothers Dagget and Norbert living in a Dam together and getting into all sorts of adventures, has officially been declaired an rebuffed Nicktoon under the same abuse as Invader ZIM (canned in the middle of second season production and other nasty stuff) and Hey, Arnold! (creator was confined to a small range of one network, aka the "Exclusivity Clause", just to keep the show in production).

Why? The final season was and remains and unseen in the US. How come? One line in the series finale (Bye, Bye Beavers), ONE PATHETIC LINE, pissed them off. Here is how it was put:

Dag: "Norbie, what happens when you're 'over'?"

Norb: "Aw, it's not so bad."

    Dag: "No?"

Norb: "New Cartoon's good, even if it isn't. It's rerun-incarnated!" (as in "reincarnated")

    Dag: Oooh... Does that hurt?

Norb: No, only when you get the later checks. The cartoon programming guys re-run it over and over and they make lots of well-deserved money.

Dag: Which they share with the people who made the cartoon right?

Norb: NO-HAHAOOOOOOHHHBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!!! Uh ha! Woah Yeah right. (Calming down, trying to soothe Dag). Uh, right. So yo see it's all for the better.

    Dag: Right.

Norb: Even though we're vanishing, we'll be back over and over again at (shouting) virtually no cost to the network!
Micah Wright, a Beavers staffer (who, by the way, also created Constant Payne, a rejected Nicktoon), says that the line poked fun at Nick's practice of earning money from airing constant reruns of newer series, rather than making new episodes of their Nicktoons (which, in itself, is an inane programming measure). As a result, Nick black-marked the whole episode and blocked the last two Season 4 episodes and all of Season 5, while still leting them out to the International Market. Also affected were the reruns, as Nick gave bad time slots to the show to prevent many people from watching it and yanked it off the air last fall without warning.

Nick did all of this just because one measley, medocure, stupid line told the truth.

In my personal opinion, these measures were redicuolus for one inapporpriate line. I mean, the best they could have done was to learn from that line and clean up their mess or even edit it out, but NOOOOOOOOOOOO, they had to take the afore mentioned steps and kill Beavers for no good reason.

Put that in a blender with the highly-unortodox ZIM cancellization and Arnold's abuse, via the evil clause, and WHAMMO! You got yourself a shake that will make the drinker want to shut Nickelodeon down for good.

Feed it to K-C (Rocket Power, As Told By Ginger) and Butch Hartman & Co. (The Fairly OddParents), then they will be so outraged, the companies will even sue Nick for the full, un-inturruptable rights to their shows and characters and leave the network for good. Even though none of that is possible, it would be apporiate, right, even a little fun.

Feed it to the viewers and cable companies, and they will be outraged. So much, they will even go as far as to drop Nick and a few of their sister networks from their lineups. Also, the viewers will write lists of Nick alternatives and boycott the network. Sure, the former sound farfetched but fun, like the companies sueing issue, but the latter is very likely and highly possible.

In any case, for all of this, Nick deserves the worst for all their poor programming measures. Well, I heard that they found a bone to pick with Chirstian Groups and some parents over Homo-sexual specials on the network. What can I say (though I'm not sure if I agree with them) but, "one comeuppance (Magnificent Ambersons reference) coming up for Nick!"

As for what to reply, mention what you want, lest it be that my opinion concerning what should happen to Nick is absurd or you agree with me that Nick's measures were wrong. Heck, you can even include both!
I think Scooby-Doo is knida over-rated and all of the HB Dogs should be praised.
Wouldn't it be great if their could be more Peanuts specials on DVD?
It was just what my career needed - I was at the top and now I'm at the bottom.

One small discussion in the cartoon? I knew Nickelodeon was bad, but this is ridiculous! Solutions that did not come to their minds: They could avoid that one episode, or they could edit that part out. Or the best one: They could try to forget about it.

Well, at least Invader Zim made fun of Nick. They had a kid in a tube that had a Nick shirt on, he had a huge smile on his face and he said "I'M SO HAPPY, ALL THE TIME". That was definately making fun of how Nick thinks all of their viewers are like. I mean, come on, you have to laugh at yourself sometimes. Why can't the Nick people laugh at themselves.

After Zim goes off the air, I'm gonna have to boycott this station. They take great shows and drown them into the toilet or cancel them. Maybe this is why i never watch that station. Getting almost as bad as Disney.

I stopped watching Nick after I got Cartoon Network, which is essentially why I've only seen two or three episodes of Zim. As soon as I start watching it, it gets cancelled.

I actually liked the Angry Beavers before I had CN.

Everything on Nick gets cancelled. This, that, the other thing, ALL CANCELLED .

    My point is Nickelodeon Sucks

Auggie Doggie: I have that actual conversation as an mp3 on my computer. I have no idea where I got it. I didn't even know it was an actual clip from an episode, I thought it was something the VAs did just to put on the Internet, or just some random people who sounded like Norb and Dag (like that ZIM Dragonball Z thing, just some crazy teenager who sounds like ZIM).

It really is hilarious. I'll put a link if I can find one.

I used to love Nick, but later after we got Cartoon Network I guess you can say I "converted". More cartoons (and ONLY cartoons), and NO live action teen shows I can't relate to or are not funny when they try to be. It was so much better back in the old days. All the shows I loved the most aren't there anymore, and The Angry Beavers was one of them.

The people in charge of Nick are obviously taking lessons on being "anal retentive" from the Disney people. The only reason I watch Nick at all anymore is because of "Invader Zim", "Hey Arnold", "Pelswick" and "The Fairly Odd Parents". The sad part about it is that two of these shows won't be in production this time next year. Craig Bartlett ("Hey Arnold") will be at Cartoon Network, Jhonen Vasquez will be doing comics again, and "Pelswick" will be sent to CBS morning show hell. I'll be blunt: I don't like any of the Cartoon Cartoons at all excluding "Samurai Jack", but it seems they will be the only game in town. The once powerful Nicktoon lineup, just like the once powerful "Disney Afternoon" lineup ("Ducktales", "Darkwing Duck"," Gargoyles") is a shadow of it's former self, heading downhill at break neck speed.

Good Gravy, some of these people at Nick need to lighten up. I never was the biggest Nick fan, but this is gone A little too far. I sure hope that "Spongebob", and "Fairly Odd Parents" won't be the next casualties in all this nonsense. The're now the only decent shows the've got left.

Well, SpongeBob was discontinued by its creator... but that's a good thing. With the way NICK is merchandising the show, we know they would've hurled it over the shark. Anyway, I doubt NICK will ever stop airing reruns of SpongeBob. They know it's good, even though they don't know WHY it's good.

Oh God, "Rocket Power". I'm sorry, but does anyone really like this show? I find it funny that every time it's up against a show like "Invader Zim" or "The Fairly Odd Parents" on that stupid "Summer Pick-Nick" thing, it loses every time. Is there something I'm missing here? Either there is, and there is a huge fanbase that I am missing, or there isn't, and the only reason it's on ad nauseum is because of the magical "Klasky-Cuspo".

I got over Nick when I was about 14 and got into MTV (which I got over about 6 years back, I'm 23 now) but I am an INSATIABLE Cartoon Network addict. Cartoon Network is a MAJOR reason Nick is being such a bunch of a-holes lately, because they have lost a TON of ad revenue to CN, and they see how CN treats their exclusive creators like the gods they are, rather than filthy artist scumbags like the Nick creators are treated.

Oh well, hopefully this will teach new animators to NOT give in and sell-out to Nick, as they may gain some amount of fame, but they will sell their souls in the process.

One of the primary reasons the amazing Constant Payne series didn't get picked up was because Micah was accused of handing out union cards to writers at Nick. This would have cost Nick tons of profits because they would have had to give the writers their due and so they instead fired Micah, labeled him a trouble maker and basically destroyed both of his shows.

Since then he hasn't been able to get to much work because of the stigma and Constant Payne would cost whoever picks it up quite a bit of money to get the rights from Nick. It's a real shame to because the show would have been excellent and would have made for a different offering than the C-K junk that Nick seems so fascinated with. I'll try and get in contact with Micah again and see if I can get an update on Constant Payne.

Nick became a wasteland after the Ren & Stimpy debacle. Although SpongeBob is cool.

That station hasn't been creative or enjoyable since they imported shows like DangerMouse or You Can't Do That On Television.
