    Invader Zim's comedic influence

    Like This Thread!
for those of you who are avid zim fans, i was just wondering your opinion on this. As I was watching this weeks new episode, it struck me as coincidental that Zim seems to deliver certain lines the same way that Kids in the Hall veteran Kevin McDonald does. Also, Kevin McDonald voices Tallest Purple. That and the fact that the kind of humor on Zim is reminicent of typical Kids in the Hall fare. Was this show, (and Kevin McDonald, imparticular) an influence on Jhonen Vasquez's comedic style? I would like to think so, considering im a huge jhonen fan, as well as KITH.

I've noticed this also, but there's somehting else in Zim I haven't been able to place. His speech is very remensciant to much of Kevin's dialogue in various sketches, most notable the one's where he's insane; but there's somewhere else that comes from and I can't remember where it is.

I always figured it came from a cross between Kevin and the brilliance that is our voice actor Mr. Horvitz and that something else I just can't place.

BTW Just read on yourmom that MTV Networks is taking Zim to Cannes to perhaps put it up for sale, which could be hella GREAT news if it's true. Go Zim!

Hmm, I think Zim reeks of the PoUD skits. (Pit of ultimate darkness)

I noted before that the aliens in "Abducted" were very Eric Idle of Monty Python. "His head is just begging for juice fusion!" "Yes, but why must we always use MY juice?" "Are you calling me stupid?" [slavering and "duh"ing]
Gaz just has that whole little Carrie White/prepubescent evil Daria Morgendorffer vibe going on.

Kids in the Hall is the best, especially Kevin, my fave of the 5. Have never seen an ep of Invader Zim, but if its like KITH then its worth me checking it out
The Lone Gunmen. Harsh Realm. John Doe. Firefly. Boston Public. Wonderfalls. And now MadTV. FOX must DIE!!!!!!
