Rugrats-I really think it's time to stop

    Like This Thread!
Rugrats has gone on long enough. I think it's time to put the lid on it really!! There are at least 300 episodes and they totally changed it when they put Dil and Kimi in it.
Rugrats- give it a rest already!!It's time to retire!!

Watching a bunch of babies butcher the English language, blow little, insignificant things way out of proportion, and letting Angelica kick them around got old after about... oh, say... five minutes. The should have left or, as the show put it, "growed up", a long time ago.

I can take this show or leave it, but what it basically boils down to is, is that its made for a younger audience. If little kids want to watch it, then thats alright with me. They deserve something that apeals to their level as much as we crave cartoons that are more our level.

Never been a fan. Hate the animation and the music. Agh! An interesting idea, however the Muppet Babies did it better.

It should have ended about 7 years ago after some of the key talent left.

Oh man...do I ever agree. The music is horrible...if you can even call those annoying noises in the background music.

Yes cool_girl, I agree completely. Rugrats is stupid, annoying, and highly overrated. It won the award for best kids show when it was up against Pokemon for crying out loud! I think it beat Batman The Animated series as well. What a bunch of crap...

Those kids talk WAY to well for their ages. It's not funny...it's not cute..it's just stupid.

Anyways, sorry if it sounds like I'm taking this a little too seriously or something, but It's just that I really don't like that show.

The Rugrats should've stayed cancelled back in 1993. The only reason it came back was because of money and merchandising...

Yeah. The show entered the crapper after Paul Germain left.
If you get put in solitary, it ****ing sucks. I was put in there just because they had me in double-lock maximum security, and it's the most tedious ****ing thing. I can't think of anything more boring. There's a Japanimation cartoon I've been trying to watch on Cartoon Network called Witch Hunter Robin, and that's almost as boring.

I didn't used to think Rugrats was that bad. I always used Baby Dil as an excuse for it being worse, or maybe it was because I was younger...

    Let The Market Decide

I say, let the market decide. I've never watched Rugrats, and don't care about it at all (that's the way I voted), but if other people watch the show, and like it, then more power to them.

I know I'd be angry if some Rugrats fans who hated my favorite currently running TV show (Justice League) started saying "Man, that show shouldn't even be on the air, because..." If Rugrats fans don't like Justice League, then that's fine with me! Each to their own, as the old saying goes. Just don't try to bring down Justice League because you don't happen to like it!

Since I'm not a Rugrats fan, I don't want to try to decide for Rugrats fans when their show should end. That's for the Rugrats fans should decide (with their pocketbooks, and TV remote).

Favorites! (1) Action: Transformers & G.I. Joe; Visionairies; The DCAU; Robotech, DBZ, Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo & Trigun; TMNT, MOTU; and Avengers: EMH; (2) Comedy: The Simpsons & Futurama, Space Ghost: Coast to Coast & The Brak Show, Sealab 2021, Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law, ATHF, The Boondocks, The Venture Bros., and Archer

This amazes me how, you people are in your teens and are complaining about a little kids show. Maybe the reason you don't like it is because well, you're not a little kid.

Children still watch this show and love it to death. You know? Let the kids have their shows. And besides, it's on a network which, besides Zim, you people don't seem to care about. So why get all up in arms over this when it really doesn't matter to you anyways?

I turned on Nick yesterday, and there it was. And I was like "hey, it's Rugrats, I used to love this show!". 5 seconds into and I couldn't get to the remote fast enough to change the channel.

The voices annoy me. The characters annoy me. EVERYTHING about that show is annoying to me now.

So, in closing, yes, it's time to stop this bloody show.

"Rugrats" was somewhat of an interesting thing for me. When this show first came on in 1991, while it did not have the press Ren and Stimpy had, it was a cute little show with funny situations and adventures. Throughout that first run, which lasted until 1993/4, it was one of the best shows on the station. (well, that, Doug and Rocko's Modern Life, but that is another story) The storys were hilarious in that we had these kids doing these wild and crazy things, and the adults are doing things that are just as, only many people consider it as "mature". And besides, Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, Lil and Angelica (and Suzie later) were always having a great time, whether it was all together or just one at a time! (a couple of the early eps. had just Tommy wandering around certain places, like an office building where he is supposed to have psychiatric treatment only it turns into a session for his father!) While I was a tad upset that the show ended in 1993/4, I was still happy because the show would at least have quality reruns until Nick decided to take it away like they usually do with all their shows before.

Then it happened. Rugrats became the latest "thing". It started getting ratings and Nick, unfortunately, noticed. They brought the show back into production, and that is when it started to fall apart. At first it was the little things that got to me. The music, perhaps influenced by the kind of stuff on "Aaah, Real Monsters!" (the Klasky-Csupo show made after the end of Rugrats's first run), did not work to me. When I heard it in the Mother's Day Special and the Channukah special (both of which I actually like because they worked and were not as extremely removed as the really later stuff), it just did not seem to fit a show like Rugrats. Another noticable thing about those transitional specials were that the voices didn't seem the same as they used to be. Tommy and Chuckie just sounded a little too high pitch than they used to be. Then when I started seeing the real results of the new episodes is when I started to hate it: Rugrats became retreads! All of the "new" stuff lacked the imagination and were not as smartly written as the old stuff. Maybe they had just locked down the characters into a certain style or personallity, but many of those episodes stunk, except for the occasional OK one. (like when Angelica learned a bad word when she was to be on a kids TV show)

The final straw for me was Dil. I saw "The Rugrats Movie" when it first came out and it had me going crazy! I mean, here we have Tommy, who still looks the same as he did from the first episode give or take, taking care of a "baby brother"!!!!! It seemed as if he and the other babies were somewhat "timelocked" like in other animated series, where things can happen to change things, yet the main characters always stay the same, mostly in appearance. (which later became one of the reasons I stopped watching "The Simpsons", but that is another story) And while the movie in itself was a tad preposterous in some ways, the episodes after the movie were even worse! It was like the writing for the show had taken an even greater nosedive than it had already been. And while a tiny, microscopic bit of the old magic was there here or there, it was pretty much gone. I stopped watching the "newer" episodes of Rugrats close to the time of the second movie.

In the end, I can divide "Rugrats" into three eras: "Classic", which is all the episodes of the original run, "Transitional", which had the occasional good episode or special, and "Crap", which is pretty much "The Rugrats Movie" and beyond. I refuse to just say outright that "Rugrats sucks" because it did not for a certain time. But yes, it has become intolerable in its present state.

(BTW: To defend my POV on Rugrats, I changed my sig to a line from one of my favorite "Classic" era episodes, to remind people that there was a time when Rugrats was good and there was not enough "Klasky-Csupo" stuff to bash)

I could care less. I don't watch it, and when I did watch it I didn't like it at all. So it doesn't matter to me if it stays on or not.

I have seen just about every early episode of the Rugrats and I agree that the show has gone on for way too long. I liked the growed up special and think if their going to keep doing a Rugrats series, they should make that a series and cancel the current one.

For a station that shows recent and current shows, they really need something new. Actually, they have many new shows. The problem is Rugrats is still around. Even for the little kids, how much can you take?
