Looks like Pac-Man is coming to Nicktoons

    Like This Thread!
This isn't official I'd say, but someone on Nicktoons' Facebook linked a poster promoting new 2012 shows for the network. I don't know where it came from but it seems like an early leak:

Anyone here remember a new "Pac-Man" cartoon getting pitched around as far back as 2010? That's when the trailer debuted at E3.

How timely. Just the other day I was talking with my brother about that new Pac-Man show, since we hadn't heard any follow-up news about it since the preview at E3 last year.

That's interesting news, if true. I guess Nicktoons is the most logical choice; Disney wouldn't carry a show like this, nor does a video game-based show seem like a good fit for the Hub. CN probably could've carried it, would've made a nice companion piece to Level Up.

Since Pac is a high-schooler in this series, he should technically be Pac-Boy, I guess the folks behind this figured that kids would have an easier time identifying with a juvenile protagonist.

When the preview was leaked last year, I remember a lot of people crying blasphemy over this new adaptation, but really, we're talking about a show based on an arcade game about a yellow circle who runs around a maze eating dots while being chased by Technicolor ghosts; was anybody expecting something along the lines of I, Claudius? In any event, this new show couldn't possibly be worse than that Hanna-Barbera toon from 1983.

Interesting to see it coming to Nicktoons. That poster also confirms that the Jungle Fury marathon is the precursor to reruns of all PR seasons coming to Nicktoons in 2012. Nice!

I'm gonna give the new Pac-Man series a chance, as I love the novelty of video game-based cartoons and anything with Tom Ruegger and Paul Rugg on the staff deserves a look.

I don't know about this. The logo on the leak is the British Nicktoons logo. Also, it includes something called "Wild Grinderz" (which, to my memory, is shown on Kabillion here in the states), so I'm gonna take this info with a grain of salt.

For what it's worth, there's a link on the bar at the top of the Nicktoons (US) website for "Wild Grinders".

Still, that poster looks...unofficial at best.

Also to be fair Rob Dyrdek is an AMERICAN sports star so I'm fairly sure his cartoon which is in the works is coming to the U.S and has been announced for Nicktoons. Plus the deal for Power Rangers all the way back in 2010 was that it's suppose to air Samurai this year and next year the other power rangers series would start airing on Nick (I'm still confused on why Jungle Fury is airing as a marathon though but I guess that's just one of Nicktoons impulses to get something related to the show but not air it properly when something's popular like the DBZ movies suddenly appearing on Nicktoons). So I guess it wouldn't be too out there for Pac-Man to get a cartoon on Nicktoons. I mean Speed Racer and Voltron Force seem to be doing well so maybe Nicktoons is also getting in on the whole "old properties new series" splurge that seems to be hitting every major kids network now. (I don't think it's hit Disney yet but if the Muppets movie does well I'm sure we'll get a muppets TV series in a year or two).

As for a new Pac-Man CG cartoon series, it could wind up being decent. Actually thinking about it's been quite awhile since we've seen a cartoon based around a video game. Sure there's still a lot of anime based around video games that are popular and keep coming out but we haven't seen many cartoons since the 90's of it. In fact I can really only think of two that acutally aired here: Viva Pinata (that was on 4KidsTV) and Tak and the Power of Juju. Which Nickelodeon helped make anyway and always intended at some point to make it a series but even when it did it only lasted a season and was quickly forgotten. Maybe Pac-Man will wind up doing better as it's actually based on a very popular and very well known video game character who you can do a lot with considering how simple his backstory is.
Instead of just using this new signature to celebrate a thousand more post, let me list of all the great things you can expect of me on this board for 2012:

...... The same talkbacks you saw me do last year but with new episodes.

.... What are you doing still reading this? Move to the next post already! .

Now that I look at the image it looks kinda fake, I can't even find it anywhere else online. Like mentioned before it has the UK logo but the American website. Plus the way the images are layered looks sloppy.

I think that the image is fake. I am not going to hold my breath for it until I see something more official.

I called Nick just now, and the representative on the phone said she never heard of a Pac Man cartoon (not even the 80s version, I guess). I told her the link was on this forum, and I guess they caught something, because the link is now gone.

So, I guess that officially debunked the possibility of any Pac Man cartoon on Nicktoons.

In that case, I'm closing this thread. No reason to drag on something that doesn't exist.
