    Chalkzone,series reviews

    Like This Thread!
OK, I'm writing a review for chalkzone, I saw it a few weeks back and below is my review. 0 is the lowest 5 is the highest for the points in the review.
Originality-3.8,This show is mainly about 'Where do erased pictures on the chalkboard go' sure it's an original idea ,but they gave it a bad presentation.
Characters-2.1,The characters in this show aren't very humorous. The main character,Rudy is supposed to be an 'average kid' although he doesn't have much of a personality except for the fact that he likes to draw. Penny, is supposed to be a nerd, but the voice acting for her is very irritating at times, not only that ,but she doesn't have any other traits besides for that. Bullynerd, is supposed to be the bully of the show, just as his name suggests he's a bullyish-nerd and nothing else. Snap, is a drawing of a superhero that guides Rudy around chalkzone.
Entertainment-0.4, this show is more boring than 2001:a space oddessy. They try to give it an Action aspect ,but the same backbone is used in every episode. There isn't much variety. Even if I was in the age of the show's age audience I don't think I'll enjoy it.
Art Design-2.7, this show has some of the worst art I've ever seen in my life. Rudy reminds me of a Hamster (don't we all). They apply the same elements of the characters from other cartoons for the other characters (i.e. smart kid wears glasses, bully has unibrow). I must admit they did a good 'chalk' outline in chalkzone and they have colored pencil backgrounds.

So there's my opinion anyone else have something to say?
    P.S.
Don't just say "Chalkzone sucks" give reasoning first.

It's at least an escape from Klasky-Csupo...and I like the textured feel of the backgrounds and the "toony" characters drawn in a different style than the "real-world" characters. Maybe with some improved scripts, it could be the next big Nick thing...and I rather like Penny, who is an intelligent girl and not afraid to speak out (hey, not too many girls can appreciate spiders). Again, with better writing that doesn't reduce her to a crude cipher, she could be one of the Orange Network's most lovable female characters.

I liked hearing EG Daily using her "All Growed Up" voice for Rudy like Tress MacNiele (Agnes and Mrs. Krabobbel from the Simpsons) was Snap.

    Who voiced Penny Again?
    Dionne Quan?
    Candi Milo?
I think Scooby-Doo is knida over-rated and all of the HB Dogs should be praised.
Wouldn't it be great if their could be more Peanuts specials on DVD?
It was just what my career needed - I was at the top and now I'm at the bottom.

I have to say that this is the best of the "new breed" Nicktoons!

I knew this thing had to become a series sooner or later when it about over 10 episodes on 'Oh Yeah! cartoons'. They even made whole episodes just devoted Chalkzone. I guess it was to test if it could watched as a series.

I really do like it. It is pretty much mind less fun, but its good comparted to many of the other Nicktoons they shove down our thoarts.

    ?

I thought Candi Milo voiced Snap. That's what I saw in the credits.

OK, anyway, I'm not going to go into number ratings, but I'll go more indepth:

I agree with the opinion that the characters are very flat. Snap is basically a sarcastic wisecracker who likes action, Penny an intelligent girl who always wants to know more about Chalkzone, and Rudy....nothing whatsoever. The other characters are just annoying.

Hate to say it, but even though this has some of my favorite voice actresses...It just doesn't seem to have the same oomph. I've always liked E.G. Daily's voice, but Rudy is very flat. And while I'm getting used to Candi Milo's Dexter(And finding her a very good VA in general), Snap has to sound hyper 24/7.

Stories? Pah. It's always too frantic. A vacuum eating everything, a giant spider chasing them....Worse, it goes on way too long.

And I'd like there to be a little character development; in Invader Zim and Fairly Oddparents, which I find to be the only good Nick shows now, there have been occasional episodes focusing on other characters. Zim has Game Slave 2, focusing entirely on Gaz and what happens when her built-up wrath is finally unleashed when Iggins takes what should belong to her, is fantastic. There's also an Oddparents episode dealing with Cosmo and Wanda's relationship, and it was very charming(Nowhere near Zim, of course). Though maybe I'm being too harsh, as only 2 episodes have aired.

My final opinion? I just don't like what I've seen. It was exactly what I expected and I don't expect it to change. And one last thing: Those songs at the end are the most annoying things I've seen on Nick since The Amanda Show.

They showed a pilot on December 31st 2000 and instead of saying "Our new series" they said "A brand-new Chalkzone"
