The Penguins of Madagascar - "Penguin Zombie / Sting Operation" - Talkback [10/24/09]

The Penguins of Madagascar - New Episode!
Episode #119 - I Was A Penguin Zombie / Sting Operation
Original Airdate - Saturday, October 24, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. ET
• A botched mission lands Skipper in the ER with a broken flipper. When the bandaged and drugged Skipper escapes the hospital before he’s cured, his odd behavior leads the rest of the team to believe that he’s turned zombie. Skipper needs to prove to the team that he is not one of the undead before they resort to painful and dangerous zombie-stopping tactics.
• A hive of hornets has appeared at the zoo entrance, and they refuse to leave. The penguins must figure out a way to dispose of the hornets without being stung, before the first bus of children arrives at the zoo.

Great episodes! I love zombies and I love this show so this was a definite win! The "Sting Operation" one was allright and Id have to say the best part was where they all were like Mort, though the whole feet thing still wierds me out...

I don’t really have anything to say, but I enjoyed both of these segments. I don’t think there has been an episode yet that I’ve disliked.

I'm just starting to get into Penguins, and this was another fantastic episode. Anyone know if a marathon might be coming up so I can see all of the episodes that I've missed?

usually right before a new episode they will play a ton of old episodes to get you in the mood for the new one... wasnt like that today, but usually is... not that they play EVERY last one but it usually follows a theme... the previous new episode about king julien actually taking over the zoo had a marathon of king julien related episodes shown before it... just keep checking the schedules and make a checklist of all the episodes and check thme off as you see them!

I only caught "Penguin Zombie", but perhaps that's enough.
I like this show, but I can't believe that they actually dragged out the whole 'overheard misunderstanding' ploy to propel the narrative (If you have to resort to this, in this century, you have failed as a writer). It only got worse when the other penguins believed Skipper to be a zombie. Was I really supposed to laugh?
I feel that a big problem with today's society is that we don't listen to our fellow man -- especially when I'm talking.

That’s a bit harsh… I didn’t have any problems with that scene and I sincerely doubt that many people did. It’s a cartoon – for children. Saying that Brandon Sawyer failed as a writer simply because he made use of a plot device doesn’t make any sense to me. What you have to keep in mind is that despite all of their shenanigans, the penguins are animals. Even Kowalski, with his higher intellect, has a vague understanding of the world. Therefore, it made sense for them to assume that what they heard was legitimate, and it didn’t help that Skipper showed up acting and looking like he did. Again, I didn’t see anything wrong with what took place.

I really liked both episodes. I think “I Was a Penguin Zombie” was pretty good. I loved how they did a callback to “Needle Point” with the vet not giving Skipper a shot. I also enjoyed Rico’s line when he told Skipper to “Come here.” – That voice along with the weapon in his hand was great!
“Sting Operation” was great too. I love the characters of this show so much. Mort is always great; I just can’t get enough of his voice. It was also nice how the penguins wanted to protect the children. I guess all I can say is… “I sting your face!”

A plot device that outlived its usefulness in the third season of "Three's Company." While I admit it was harsh to say that (I still think it, but it was harsh to say it), that does not mean it was a good idea.

What I liked about this episode is that - aside from the lemurs appearing for a bit in the second cartoon - both stories are primarily about Skipper and crew. Which is good, because I don't want to see this show turn into the "King Julien Show", as funny as he is.

I thought the I Was A Penguin Zombie episode was good, at least after watching it a second time. What I really liked though was Sting Operation.
I can't agree with the characterization of the hornets more (well, maybe they could have been a little more focused on stinging things, but...
), and I don't think anybody didn't enjoy the "it happened twice! It happened twice!"
