The Penguins of Madagascar - New Episode!

Episode #118 - Out of the Groove / Jungle Law
    Original Airdate - Monday, October 12, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. ET

    • After a dancing rivalry gets out of control, Darla the baboon curses King Julien, and steals his “groove.” Without his ability to shake his booty, King Julien is inconsolable, and a little annoying. After some intense begging, Julien convinces the penguins to help him get his groove back.
    • A city-wide blackout hits the zoo, and the animals begin to panic. Instead of listening to the penguins’ rational plan, they turn to King Julien, who institutes “jungle law.” Almost immediately, the entire zoo is thrown into chaos. The penguins attempt to gain control over the rioting masses before the entire zoo is destroyed.

Im quite excited for this one! And I like how Nickelodeon builds the hype by playing a small marathon of older episodes before the new one airs... Its like watching the first two parts of a trilogy at home before you go see the release of a third one in the theater.... it just gets you pumped!

I know, IMO it was a dumb move to air commercials right after the intro. I guess “Littlest Pet Shop” was the sponsor of this Penguins special. However, I do believe this is the first Penguins episode to use the new Nickelodeon logo on the show’s title screen.

This show is amazing. It's the only CGI-animated show I've ever seen that's so well animated and expressive that I completely forget that I'm watching a CGI show. This show moves and feels like a fully-animated 2D show, the likes of which we haven't seen since Disney shut their down their TV animation units.

This show has improved by leaps and bounds since it began, and it's slowly edging out Spongebob as my current favorite Nick show.

Uhm....Walt Disney Television Animation is still around.

Unless you're talking about the Japanese and Australian studios.

“Out Of The Groove” wasn’t a bad episode, but I enjoyed “Jungle Law” much more. It seemed to have funny moments more frequently and I liked how it got a lot of the zoo animals involved in the plot. I particularly liked the scene in which Marlene teamed up with Rico; she’s still my favorite character and it was nice to see her enjoy being an operative for a change. I told the people who complained about her character a few months back that she was more than a “comic foil” - and several episodes since then have done interesting things with her. The other main characters have pre-defined roles from the movies, so Marlene is an x-factor that gives the writers leeway to do with her what they feel makes the episodes better, whether she sides with the lemurs or the penguins.

Yeah, that's what I meant. WDTA is still around, but their animation certainly isn't as full and expressive as it was in the '90s.

Pretty good episodes but not the best by far.

Glad to see they keep adding more characters (baboons, rhino, polar bear)

also, did this spisode seem WAY more three-dimensional to anyone? there were times where i felt as if i was watching claymation beacause the lighting and shading were so good!
