I don't know how I feel about the whole mess anymore. But I have to admit, that when

the baby made a stinky, and Cosmo passed out in response, I got kind of tickled.
Well, at least it'll be something new...

Oh why must they put a baby in this show now? That's about as bad as whenever they add a monkey character.

I agree. Unnecessary add-on characters (newborn babies especially) are almost always a sign of a shark jump. It's all oohs and aahs for a little while, then they quickly become a writing problem due to their limitations. I remember what happened on FOX's Bobby's World; the mom was pregnant for the entire second season, and then after the babies (twins) were finally born, they added absolutely nothing to the show. Dora the Explorer didn't need a new baby character (and yet she got two!) and neither do The Fairly OddParents.
According to a lot of people,FOP jumped-the-shark after Abra Catastrophe and you gotta remember the British dubbed movie flop, which is Doogal that Hartman wrote and directed.Maybe this season will be a comeback and the whole baby addition can fit in just as nicely as a new member of Full House.
Before you say "nay",note the iffy word 'maybe.' FOP was once my favorite show back in 03-04.Perhaps it can win us back with restoring some balance to Cosmo and Wanda's marriage, never again hinting that either wants to cheat on each other again and perhaps giving more character depth as well.
Lavender... it's not violet (blue wouldn't have it) and it aint royal. But it's still purple.
I agree. It may or may not ruin the show.

Well, the conventional wisdom is that a baby or ANY new character usually sinks a show. But there are exceptions, like M*A*S*H, a show which lost and added characters all the time and wasn't particularly affected - in fact it apparently prospered by the changes.
Of course FOP is hardly of M*A*S*H-level quality. But that just begs the question of whether ANY idea is a bad one. Maybe it's writing that makes all the difference. Anyway, I don't think that FOP merely adding new episodes is going to pull it out of the ratings slump it's currently suffering. At least the baby will get some attention, and it does sort of make sense. Wanda and Cosmo have been married thousands of years and yet have never had kids of their own. That to me is more unbelievable than them having a baby. (Unless Cosmo sleeps alone in that stupid race-car bed for a reason I won't mention here. Which makes the idea of Wanda staying married to him for thousands of years more nonsensical yet.)
I'm willing to wait and see about the baby gimmick. But what I'm really wanting to see is the show return to its earlier days when the characters were far more likeable and the show was much funnier. Since some of the writers that created the excruciating later seasons have left to create excruciating series of their own (The Replacements and Yin Yang Yo), maybe such a miracle is possible...
Now that you said that, I'm curious. Please say the reason, I wanna know!Unless Cosmo sleeps alone in that stupid race-car bed for a reason I won't mention here.![]()

Looking at the video that was posted, I hope that's not going to be the gimmick for the whole season.
Of course, Butch Hartman's blog said that the show will also focus on returning and new villains, so we'll just have to wait and see.

This kind of annoys me, because I feel Cosmo and Wanda were doing just fine without any children. But then, as a supporter of those who choose not to have kids, maybe I'm in the minority here.
