Uh, can I see some comments?
If you like "The Fairly OddParents" as much as I do, then you sure are in for a treat. This is a capsule of an FOP comic that ran recently in a Nicktoons magazine (available at most magazine retailers until 5/21/02 for $4.95 in America and $5.95 in Canada) consisting of the full story, funny quotes and interesting facts. Bon Apetite...
The Fairly OddParents Comic
The Big Surprise!
First appeared in "Nickelodeon Magizene: Nickttons Special, Number 4: Maximum Rocket Power"
Timmy overheard his parents and heard something about a Big Surprise. He was so courious about it, with Cosmo agreeing with him and Wanda considering what he is thinking to be "rude." Timmy, burning with wonder, wishes it were morning, a wish C&W grant, but his parents had to go to work, so he wishes he could eavesdrop on them.
Therefore, they turn into birds (yes, even Timmy) and follow Mom and Dad around. Dad, of course, thinks it was winter and turns up the heat on the car. Meanwhile, Timmy and co. get jet packs and fly so fast, they end up at the cat show. Timmy wishes they were at Mom's office.
At that same time, Dad drops a sweaty Mom at her workplace (because Dad was wrong about it being Winter). When she walks in, and Timmy wishes they could sneak in and they enter as Bees (again, Timmy is transfigurated). However, when Mrs. Turner comes across them, she sprays them with Bug Poison, but they get gas masks. However, they come across a Venus fly trap, which almosts gobbles them up. Timmy, however, wishes he would follow with his father.
Timmy becomes the car his father drives and Cosmo and Wanda become fuzzy dice for the mirror. Timmy trys to presue him to talk about the Big Surprise. Dad, however, being the dope he is, thinks he is a secret agent, 007-esque attire and all, because his car talks. Just then, they drive into a spaceship where aliens try to distroy them, but Dad thinks it's a Car Wash. Timmy wishes they were home.
He learns that it is a bad idea to eavesdrop on conversations, which can also be dangerous, and has lost interest in the Big Surprise. This lesson is what Wanda considers valueable. When Mom and Dad call Timmy, he comes in excitment, thinking he will recieve the Big Surprise. But, it all ends in dissepointment, only to find out that the Big Surprise is an adult movie his parents will see that night. The only surprise Timmy gets is Vicki, the mean babysitter, sitting for him when his parents go out. He thinks things can't get any worse, until Vicki's annoying little sister comes along for a Slumber Party. In Timmy's words, "Gee...What a surprise."
Quoteable:
Dad: Let's keep it a secret from Timmy!
Timmy: Did you hear that?
Cosmo: Yeah! Your dad speaks in a rich baritone!
Dad: (When he gets a quick night of sleep and sees Timmy and co. flying fast above) Wow! The birds are flying south awfully early this year! Nights getting shorter? Birds flying south? It must be winter! (Turns on the heat in the car)
Mom: But...
Dad: Quiet! Conserve your body heat!
Dad: (In a winter coat, similar to the one Timmy wore in "Christmas Every Day!") Have a nice day!
Mom: (All sweaty and junk) Water...water...so...thirsty.
Timmy: (In bee form) I can't hear my Mom!
Wanda: None of your beeswax, Timmy!
Timmy: But I gotta find out what the Big Surprise is!
Cosmo: Look! I'm pollenating!
Cosmo: (In die form) I feel fuzzy!
Timmy: (In car form) This is your car speaking. Shouldn't you tell your son, Timmy, about the Big Surprise?
Dad: A Talking Car? (Rips off his coat to reveal a James Bond-esque jacket, bow tie and shirt) I must be a secret agent!
Timmy: (Back home and after he learns what the Big Surprise really is, and in a Sarcastic voice) Gee...what a surprise.
Notes:
*This comic represents the first time Timmy is turned into anything else, like Cosmo and Wanda are in most episodes. Other times, Cosmo and Wanda take on other shapes to hide their secret, as they would dissapear forever if anyone besides Timmy knew about them. In this case, however, Timmy was so desperate to know what the Big Surprise was, so he followed his parents around in various shapes.
*When Timmy took on these shapes, he was blue. They did this because his father's car was blue. More importantly, the artists of the comic, namely Vince Deporter, in charge of color, and inkers Ray Leong, Matt G Holtz and Donna Zellar, felt they had to give him a color sutiable to him, so they made his last shape that same color throughout the story. The artists had to choose between blue (his eye color), brown (his hair color) and pink (the color of his shirt and silly little hat). Of course, they chose blue, as pink was already Wanda's color and brown was more like, well, beige.
*If you study closely, you might notice a reference to the James Bond movies, because (needless to say) of Dad's secret agent clothes. More importantly, there was a reference to the old TV show, Knight Rider, which focused on a Secret Agent and his talking car. That talking car fact made Dad think he was a secret agent.
*Also, in the spaceships, you might notice the aliens are the same race as Mark's people from "Spaced Out!"
*At the end, we see Tootie's return. Tootie is Vicki's annoying little sister and has appeared in "The Fairy Flu!"
I think Scooby-Doo is knida over-rated and all of the HB Dogs should be praised.
Wouldn't it be great if their could be more Peanuts specials on DVD?
It was just what my career needed - I was at the top and now I'm at the bottom.
