    What was 'Invader Zim' like?

    Like This Thread!
This thread is proof of just how sheltered I am sometimes.

Anyway, what was it like? Was it funny? I remember the Info Club urging people to watch it 'cuz Frank Coniff worked on the first season, and its Jhonen Vasquez pedigree sounds pretty good. But I could never find out when it was on?

Is this another series I'm gonna have to hunt down on tape 'cuz it died young?

Invader ZIM was just as good as manna from heaven...like in the bible? yeah.
Jhonen Vasquez, a comic book writer/illustrator(Johnny The Homicidal Maniac, Squee, I'm sick..., etc.) was given the chance to create his own cartoon. It's about an alien(whose race bases 'power' on height. ZIM is a short guy.), who is sent to earth(a 'crappy' planet..not worth the other aliens time), to conquor it. In the end, he doesn't really get anywhere, but often runs the risk of having himself 'discovered'. To learn about human culture, he dons a "human"(oye) disguise, and goes to Skool. There, we meet Dib. A paranoid 'fanboy' kinda kid, who instantly realizes this new kid MUST be an alien. They often run into hallarious hijinks where Dib tries to unveil ZIM, and ZIM tries to destroy Dib.
Also, there is Gir...a cute little robot, who wears a doggy costume...ahh...he's so FRICKIN' CUTE! ....all love Gir....
    And, there's Gaz...she's just cool...

To bad you never saw it...it was the greatest thing to ever grace a television screen.....oh no...I'm gonna cry again...WHY NICK, WHY?!?!?!?!!

My tremendous intuitive sense of the female creature informs me that you are troubled...

    best episodes:

rise of the zit boy: zim get a hypnotic pimple, how much cooler can you get than that? its all jiggley, and hipnotizey. and you can guess what the ending is(pop).

i dont know the name(sausage episode): what is worse than slowly turning into a sausage? being chased by dogs for your delicious sausage flavored skin.

i dont know the name(organ eating episode): it zims quest to be human, he collect organs from other students. if you look closely, you will see filler bunny make a super special cameo.

yes zim was a great show destroyed by an evil network.

I never saw Invader Zim (because I don't get Nick), but it sounds like it would have been a lot of fun to watch. Which episodes do you consider to be the best?

    That would be Bolognius Maximus

    That would be Dark Harvest.

I loved HALLOWEEN SPECTACULAR OF SPOOKY DOOM!!!!!
The bizarre monsters Johnen draws are the greatest things ever in the history of monsters.

The show was so incredibly dark, cynical and downright cruel to the human race in general...the animation was gorgeous, the music had a dark techno feel few if any other cartoons have used...it was just a work of art. Nick has practically set fire to shakespeare`s hamlet,or thrown feces on the mona lisa. The cancellation of this brilliant -BRILLIANT- show has brought down the I.Q. of the media a hundredfold and denied our generation of a masterpiece.

(not a word of that was sarcasm.I loved this show more than I have ever loved a show in my entire life.I almost cried when I heard they would be denying us FOURTEEN entire episodes. And now they arent even showing it,so we won`t even get to see the sixteen they DID make.)

    Some of my favorite lines:

Zim: be gone with you! I`ve had enough of your nonsense from your smelly mouth filled with...corn!
Dib: I havent been eating corn!
    Zim: LIAR!

Zim: (stares into sun,his contact lensis bubble up and melt) AAGH! THEYVE BOOBY TRAPPED THEIR SUN SOMEHOW!

Zim: Inferior human organs! (gets hit with a ball) OW! My squeedily-spooch!

Proffessor membrane: Not now son,i`m making (*lightning bolt*) ...TOAST! (holds toast up in the air)

I also liked the character "iggins" who was a mockery of the entire gaming community (like how he rambles on and on about playing the japanese version of "vampire piggie hunter" but had to get the american release because they added a new level) and all those wacky signs and graffiti in the background that johnen was known for...particularly the oddities around zim`s house (the sign saying "I eat food" with the slobbering smiley face and the picture simply saying "squid" both made me giggle...and the bathroom door he had for his front door.)

Apparently one of the episodes we`ll never see animated was about zim being put on trial by his race...a script that included flashbacks to the almighty tallests` childhoods. The creators were really looking forward to someday doing a DVD commentary.......

The kick in the face: i`ve gleaned from various reliable sources that a major part of the cancellation can be blamed on complaints that the show was "anti jesus".Commence vomiting.

Another great thing about Invader Zim was that Jhonen wasn't afraid to inflict serious bodily harm on his characters but, like all good cartoons, they'd be back to normal in the next moment. A perfect example of this is in the Game Slave episode, where Iggins falls 50 stories in an elevator, but after it crashes he flies out like a manga character (?).

My favorite episodes were Invasion of the Idiot Dog Brain and Bad, Bad Rubber Piggy. They had the best lines:

GIR: "Must obey the taco man!"

Zim: "Now, to unleash screaming temporal doom!"

Plus, Rubber Piggy had one of my favorite throwaway jokes in the series: the appearance of the giant fish in a bear suit! "Isn't he horrible? Look at him go!"

NICK can burn in hell. I can only hope that Zim gets picked up by a more deserving network. Cartoon Network, your new Adult Swim candidate is here...

Actually iggins was supposed to just die (note the words "the end" immediately after the elevator crashes) but nick made them add more to show he was ok,so they greatly exaggerated it (note the guitar riff and the screaming of his name) to make fun of them. The ending to "bestest friend" was also apparently changed (keef was supposed to be shown being hit by a car) and the "no cartoon characters were harmed" disclaimer at the end of the ultra-pipi episode...well,you get the idea.

Another really cool thing about it was how sometimes Zim played the good guy and other times it was Iggins.

    My fave Zim episodes...

    Walk of Doom
    Bolognius Maximus
    Game Slave 2
Planet Jackers (the episode that made me a fan)
Invasion of the Idiot Dog Brain
    NanoZim
    Bestest Friend

I didn't really like "Bad Bad Rubber Piggy" as much as the rest of you, but that final scene always makes me laugh.
I feel that a big problem with today's society is that we don't listen to our fellow man -- especially when I'm talking.

I had an idea that NICK made them change it, but it was actually funnier the way it came out.

Another example was in Bolognius Maximus, where they weren't cured at the end. You just couldn't kill these characters, .

Unfortunatley, it isn't going to get picked up by Cartoon Network. Nick will not sell the rights to Invader Zim. There is some hope though. If ratings come up in the final episodes that are going to air, they might change their mind.

Actually, Nickelodeon has been getting tons of fan mail about Invader Zim, and how everyone liked the show. These letters and JV are the reasons that Zim will actually have a Christmas Episode this coming December. Work begins on this episode next week.

Oh, if you have never seen it, then download the episodes here:

    Favorite Zim episodes:
    FBI Warning of Doom
    The Nightmare Begins
    Door to Door

These also include some of the best Zim lines ever:
"Why does everything have to be lasers with you?"
    *ZAP*
    "AAAAAAAAHHH!"
    "That's why."

"I am POOP DOGG! Gangsta Spectre of DEFEAT!!!"

"Warning: Candy composed entirely of Sawdust."

Oh...I miss Zim. And dumbass Nick hasn't shown an episode of it for almost a month.
