    Since Spongebob Is Cancelled...

    Like This Thread!
....and YES, I know it's not of the air yet, but I figured I'd make a topic of of it. What didja like about the show?

I liked it because many chars on the show remind me of people in real life. There's even someone I know who acts like Plankton...talkin' about uranium and world domination.

Oh, and the F-U-N song, Pretty Patties, and the Krusty Krab are gold. The eppy where SB and Squidward vie for Employee of the Week in particular always is caught by me when I can see it.

...but Patrick's rather stupid. I'm sorry, but he's the center of body secretion/odor jokes, which I never liked...besides, SB fits the 'stupid' personality perfectly, so there's no need for two of them.

I don't know what about SBSP, exactly, made me watch an episode if I happened upon it while flipping through the channels. I guess it was just so off-the-wall you couldn't help but watch.

I'm with SSC on this one...not one thing in particular, just that the show was brilliantly written and the animation as fun, and it was just an original show.

Shoot, I like most everything. Especially Patrick - he's even more clueless than SpongeBob, and helps make him look normal and Squidward the outsider, rather than the other way around.

I think the best aspect is the cheerfulness. SBSP came along about the time everything seemed to be geared toward edgy. SpongeBob was insanely happy and stood out. I needed insanely happy at the time.

The songs are great, some as good as A! material. I know all the words to "Texas" and it's hard not to sing this potentially embarassing song in public.

Actually, Spongebob is (in the words of one reviewer) "a modern Candide"...optomistic, naive, and sometimes a bit too saccharine for his own good. Not unlike Pinky, really...and chaaracters like Brain or Squidward confuse his cheeriness for idiocy.
Ah, Squidward. Between his Ned Sparks face/intonations, his screechy clarinet playing and his surly, sarcastic wit, he's the high point of the show. He's me on a bad day--the long-suffering frustrated artist (I play the harmonica, but the principle's the same). "Technique? Technique? Techniquetechniquetechniquetechniquetechnique!"

    SpongeBob's cancelled? Ah....

Well, I can't really say what I liked about it most. It was pretty original... probably SB. He was funny and clueless and drove Squidwird mad.

I loved this show, but I'm probably the only one who dislikes the Squidward-centered stories ("Opposite Day", "Squidward the Unfriendly Ghost") and what happened to him in those eps. They're the reason that I almost gave up on this show when I first saw it.

Luckily, I soon discovered the classics ("Musclebob Buffpants", "Plankton!", "Rock Bottom", "Mermaidman and Barnacle Boy", etc.) and I've been a fan ever since. I just make sure to avoid the aforementioned episodes.

The songs were pretty goofy (nowhere near as goofy as on "Dexter's Lab", but still...). That song "Loop-De-Loop" always puts a smile on my face...because it's so danged cheesy.

I dunn the title the eppy....but the hibernation eppy where Sandy is a big, fat, muscular beast with Patrick and Spongebob stuck in her habitation is my new fave eppy! And yes, seeing Sandy roar DID scare the pants outta me....

...though the ending had me laughing my...well, I won't be nasty here.

"Survival of the Idiots." I don't know which was scarier, Sandy PO'd or the tape ripping business.

Did anyone catch the Christmas special? It was pretty cool, even if it was little more than an excuse for Tom Kenny to dress up as Patchy the Pirate and act weird again, like he did for the You Wish special. Lonestarr, you'll want to skip it - it's Squidheavy - but if you feel for the tentacled one you have to see it.

That was also hilarious. The line "You're gonna be wearing an iron lung when I get through with you!" just puts a smile on my face.

That Tom Kenny is a riot. He's also a stand-up comic. As I see it, that makes one a prime candidate for voice acting.

The Christmas ep is the exception to the rule, and I do feel for Squidward. I mean, if you've been buried alive, zapped by jellyfish and disrupted in the middle of practicing something, wouldn't you be bitter?

The thing that got me watching "Sponge Bob Squarepants" was the episode "Oppisite's Day", Its just so funny.
Everyone is acting like Squidwad(even gary) they scare that lady from the estate agent's etc etc. Since then I've seen most of the Episodes and I loved them!!!!!!!

I thought the show was hilarious, especially the episodes revolving around Gary the snail. "I Was a Teenage-Gary" and "Dumped" are some of my all-time favorite modern cartoons! I also love "Sailor Mouth", there was a rumor that somewhere in the vaults, there is a version that has the voice actors ACTUALLY USING THE F-WORD!

But enough about that. I'm sorry that there won't be new episodes. Perhaps someone at Nick could pick up the series and make new episodes, just not Krappy-Csupo.
