Nickelodeon Nets 15th Consecutive Weekly Win With Kids and Total Viewers - Ratings | TVbytheNumbers

NICKELODEON NETS 15th CONSECUTIVE WEEKLY WIN WITH KIDS AND TOTAL VIEWERS
SpongeBob SquarePants is Top Series with Kids for the Week; Net Lands Top Five Preschool Series, Led by PAW Patrol and Wallykazam!

Nickelodeon closed the third week of April (4/14/14-4/20/14) as the number-one basic cable net in total day with Kids 2-11 (2.7/869K, up +4% over a year ago) and total viewers (1.6M), collecting its 15th consecutive weekly win.

The network’s weekly ratings win was driven by strong performances from its hit programming across animation and preschool. SpongeBob SquarePants was the number-one series with Kids 2-11 for the week, averaging a 4.6/1.5M (+35% over a year ago).

Nickelodeon also swept with its slate of hit preschool shows, landing the top five series with Kids 2-5. PAW Patrol came in first place with preschoolers, averaging a 8.1/1.0M (+76%); Wallykazam! placed second with a 7.1/880K (+61%) rating; Team Umizoomi ranked third with a 7.0/865K (+59%); Bubble Guppies was fourth with a 6.8/840K (+33%) average; and Dora the Explorer secured the fifth spot averaging a 6.3/776K (+5%).

Additionally, Nickelodeon’s niche nets posted double and triple-digit year over year gains with their core demos for the week. Nicktoons averaged 226K total viewers (+65%) and posted a 0.6/84K with Kids 6-11 (+100%) and a 0.8/59K with Boys 6-11 (+100%). TeenNick averaged a 0.5/76K with Teens 12-17 (+150%) and 233K total viewers.

SBSP back down, but here's something to think about. CN has movies cartoon premieres into the 6 p.m. hour. Now, most of CN's shows won't bother SBSP/SaC much, but on Monday, the AT special hit 3.3M (WOW), RS hit 2.7M, and Clarence hit 2.4M. And that blocked out Nick bad - on top of the NBA finals kicking in and Spring beginning. SOOOOOO, I'm gonna say that Nick is gonna be for some competition from CN, at least Sunday nights. It's a great block they have so I'm not bothered by it much. I do enjoy CN, but the great part is it'll make Nick have to push harder on their end, since CN is the only other network of the big three dealing with cartoons.

Disney, meanwhile, continues to rely on movies to keep their ratings up somewhat a block out Nick as well weekend mornings. CN and Disney had the top overall rated shows last week over Nick. Sad thing is Monsters Inc and Toy Story 3 didn't even hit 3.0M, talking about driving movies to the ground with overplay.

Nick just needs to weather the storm. Things should be kicking up, but it'll take time, especially with the NBA playoffs airing key times for the network.

Cynopsis kids posted based on last week's ratings:
04/23/14: FlickerLab extends kids animation reach; PBS Kids launches new online brand; Max & Ruby take tropical vacation – Cynopsis Media
3 out of Top 10 in K2-11 is Disney which were movies, 4 were SpongeBob reruns chunks along with rest is Disney movies/toons short.

K6-11: NONE of any Nickelodeon, NOT EVEN SpongeBob topped chart: however weird thing is #1 K6-11 is Regular Show, while sprinkled along with Disney movies/toons/repeat sitcoms along with few cartoons: Ninjago and Clarence topped chart.

If you think it's bad now, just wait about two years when a certain Disney movie about cold weather shows up. That might give a whole new definition to the word "overplay" on Disney Channel

What I found noteworthy from last week's ratings is that the two cable networks that are geared towards boys, Cartoon Network and Disney XD, had great weeks, complete with press releases for their weekly ratings. However, the more general audience Nickelodeon and girl oriented Disney Channel were going backwards. That Kids 6-11 ratings chart is surprising, with CN shows in the list and no Nickelodeon. Last week might have been an anomaly though, due to the Easter holiday, so we'll have to wait to see the results of this week to see if any trends are emerging.

Well CN may fill the charts this week as well with Adventure Time, Regular Show, and Clarence scoring exceptionally well this week. Adventure Time may be the number one show of the week with kids 6-11 and 9-14.
MONDAY: Dancing with the Stars | Castle
TUESDAY: Agents of SHIELD | The Goldbergs | Trophy Wife | Mind Games
WEDNESDAY: The Middle | Suburgatory | Modern Family | Mixology | Nashville
THURSDAY: Once Upon a Time in Wonderland | Grey's Anatomy | Scandal
FRIDAY: Last Man Standing | The Neighbors | Shark Tank | 20/20
SUNDAY: Once Upon a Time | Resurrection | Revenge

Well AT does have to compete with Disney's new award show, but CN's definitely putting spots on the list. Generally, they're are the only channel airing lots of premieres that kids want to see. Disney's has less shows and many new Nicktoons on Nick are on hiatus at the moment.

Nick should definitely be watching out for them this summer, as things generally become more favored toward them. There is hope that Bad Seeds and new Nicktoons episodes could turn things around.

Wednesday Cable Ratings: NBA Basketball Leads Night + ‘American Pickers’, ‘Inside the NBA Playoffs’, ‘Bring It!’ & More - Ratings | TVbytheNumbers

Breadwinners managed (ONCE AGAIN) to out score its Spongebob lead in. 1.632M vs 1.554M. Also wanted to mention that the FOP episode following that dropped in viewers.

Hoping this some what motivates Nick to switch back to its old schedule. Seriously can't stand that horrid SPONGEBOB/FOP/Sam & Cat schedule. Speaking of Sam & Cat, its repeat ratings, while still decent, haven't been in that 2.2 - 2.5M range. Don't know if that's because of the time switch or the Cable One thing, but when it was at 7:00pm, viewers seemed to stick around more versus 7:30. Wish the network would learn to don't fix something if it isn't broke.

I don't see Breadwinners on there.

Check around the 0.4 mark. It's below House Hunters, and above Sam and Cat.
Thinking of something to write down.

I still think the SBSP/FOP/SaC was more due to the Cable One and lack of premieres following the KCA high. Nick really has had an empty April. BUT, it's great to see BW build off SBSP and FOP drop after. You're right, I'd hope Nick "gets it" after this week. Kids WANT to see RI/SJC/BW/TMNT IMO and maybe Nick doesn't need to remove SBSP early evening, but I think the rest of the Nicktoons can at least hold down the 2-4:30 p'm slot. BTW, FOP seems to do really well in the 4 p.m. hour. BTW, next week it's SJC at 3 p.m. instead of BW.

Anyway, even without Cable One SBSP posted solid numbers Tuesday and Wednesday - hitting a 2.9M Wednesday. Mondays will probably be tough with CN's AT-RS-Clarence premieres beginning at 6 p.m. But it's important nonetheless for Nick this week, having Thursday night, Saturday night and Sunday morning premieres.

As for SaC, 7:30 p.m. is a tough slot. The show would do much better at 7 p.m. - as we've seen. There was one week Nick did TTM after SaC at it was like 2.4-2.6M for SaC and 2.1-2.3M for TTM. Fantastic early evening block IMO.

May schedule hasn't been rolled out yet, hopefully more diversity coming in May.
