    Episode Summary

    Dunces and Dragons
    Spoiler:

After a freak jousting accident at a Medieval Times restaurant, SpongeBob and Patrick are transported to a medieval version of Bikini Bottom. The two are mistaken for great knights, and soon they are entrusted with the quest of saving King Krabs' daughter, Princess Pearl, from the clutches of the evil wizard Lord Plankton. To keep them company, the King sends along Squidward, the court jester (who was recently thrown in the dungeon for not being funny). The first obstacle they encounter is the dreaded Black Knight, an ornery squirrel who fights under the spell of Lord Plankton. But Sir SpongeBob bests the Black Knight in a brilliant display of Karate, and even breaks Plankton's hold on her. The Black Knight pledges herself to the heroes' cause, and the group of four marches on to Lord Plankton's lair where they encounter the giant fire-breathing jelly fish. Fortunately Sir SpongeBob has just the thing that will tame the dangerous beast, a krabby patty that he was saving in his pocket for lunch. The knights finally get through Plankton's defenses, save Princess Pearl, and restore peace to the kingdom. When SpongeBob and Patrick awake the next morning, they are back in their present day home. Everything is as it should be, except for that giant fire breathing jelly fish that's hanging around them.

The "big jellyfish that is hanging over them" dosen't materalize in the end. Although the journey does happen as we see Squllie is being squished under Patrick after the two return back.

I think everyone here knew that there was no way this special would live up to the hype that Nickelodeon was giving it, but I thought it was alright. I mean in a "I'm not laughing all the time" sort of a way but a "it's decently entertaining and I'm not that bored" sort of way. Best parts were Spongebob's and Patrick's follies on the wild seahorses, King Krabs being annoyed by Squille, Pat and SB's preformence, our heroes kicking themselves out, Spongeboble's battle with Sandy the Black Knight, SB using the net to capture the dragon jellyfish (for a brief second) and the ending. But I wouldn't really recommend this episode to anyone whose expecting a 22 hilarious action packed journey. I just recommend it to someone who wants to see a Spongebob special better then "Ugh" or the Lost Episode.

Now this special was a good one. I liked most of it and it was definately much more entertaining by "The Lost Episode" or "Ugh!".

I think SpongeBob lost his humor in season 4. That's all I gotta say.

    Overhyped? Yes.

But was it worth it? Not really...

But was the content good? Absolutely.

This was an overall solid episode with lots of great laughs and really fun the whole way through.

Patrick had so many great lines in this special. He seemed to be the funniest this time around. He practically stole the show.

Squidwards singing was very good, and thankfully didn't get annoying because it was done in small spurts. I especially loved the song he sang to Mr.Krabs.

The episode was a little more action packed than I expected. I understand that it was the middle ages, and a double length show, but the whole "quest" was a bit out there for Spongebob.

The most disturbing part was that annoying punch out
    Spoiler:
It's all a dream... or is it?!
done to death ending. I could see it coming a mile away.

Final Verdict: Very Good. Better than most of the Spongebob specials. 8/10

What the heck was the deal with only airing half of "The Sponge Who Could Fly" during the marathon before the new episode?

I just finished watching this on tape, and I loved it. Well-written and excellent animation (for TV), good use of medieval theme, especially the "thee" and "thou"-laden dialogue. Spongey was at his sweet clueless best, Patrick was a riot and had all the best lines, Squidward rocked as the king's Fool, and Sandy was a most excellent Dark Knight. Very very enjoyable, best SB yet IMO. I look forward to the next SB "special", but hopefully it won't be mired within that idiotic Slimetime program. Ecch. I hate that show.

The art was nice, but it needed more craziness.

Plankton was really good as an evil wizard, too bad he didn't have a bigger part.

Otherwise it was an okay little romp.
My favorite parts were SpongeBob moving around in that armor and when his legs and arms got mixed-up.

Then there were a few dark moments that I was really glad to see in a modern cartoon.

They could have ended it on pretty much any punchline, but the ending was as much a given as their going back in time in the first place.
    I thought it was fine.

I remember asking my father "why'd they do that?"I think they just may have ran out of time, but choosing "The Sponge Who Could Fly" and knowing they wouldn't have time for it was a pretty cruddy decision.

Anyways on to the episoide.I really liked this episode,I thought the characters were well placed in the medevil times,I especially liked Mr. Krabs as the king. There was pretty good laughs in this ep also.I think this is one of my favorite Spongebob speacials
