Expectations for Incubus' Upcoming Album "A Crow Left of the Murder"?

    Like This Thread!
I know from past experience that there are a few fellow Incubus fans lurking about here, so I thought I'd make a thread for info / rumors / gossip / expectations / speculation / hopes and dreams regarding their upcoming album.

    What we know so far:

It'll be called "A Crow Left of the Murder" and come out on February 3rd (the day AFTER my sisters' birthday-- nuts, that would've made a good present). We also have an unofficial track listing, courtesy of Incubus Online:

    6-Sick, Sad Little World
    7-Pistola
    8-Southern Girl
    9-Priceless
    10-Zedeveel
    11-Made for TV Movie
    12-Smile Lines
    13-Here in My Room
    14-Leech

The song "Pantomime", which Mike described as a "22 Minute Rock Odyssey" will not be on the final cut of the album. There is the possibility of a suprise cover at the end.
Most of us have already heard "Megalomaniac" on the radio-- I also heard it at Lollapalooza this summer, along with "Pistola" (which is also on the Live at Lollapalooza bootleg available through Incubus' web site). I also hear there's a video to Megalomaniac floating around the Internet, but I have yet to see it myself. Word is that it's got some pretty political imagery going on, which would fit with the lyrics-- apparently the Incubi aren't the biggest Bush fans in the world.

While I don't mind that per se-- and I agree with them whole-heartedly on Bush-- I hope they don't go too far in the political direction on this album. Some is okay, but too much can be bad-- the problem with a lot of political bands like Rage Against the Machine is that if you don't agree with their politics, you often have a hard time enjoying their music.

If the two songs I've heard are any indication, though, I really like the new sound-- it's like they took S.C.I.E.N.C.E. and Morning View, possibly their two most different albums, and smooshed them together. Not really anything radically new and different (not surprising considering that they wrote the majority of it while on tour, playing their old songs every night) but still novel enough to keep my interest, anyway.

    What are your thoughts?

Incubus, Incubus, Incubus. My favorite Incubus album remains Morning View for the title track and Drive, but I did enjoy Morning View somewhat as well. I haven't heard Megalomaniac yet, but from what I've heard of the album, it does sound very interesting... Maybe I'll try it some miraculous time when I clear that huge backlog of music purchases...

    You mean Make Yourself?

Drive was pretty good, but I liked the Warmth and Nowhere Fast way better.
