Rap and R&B. Why? Because both genres have been played out. But hey, that's just my opinion...
- The Dork Knight
My least favorite has to be heavy metal and hard rock, and other genres of rock that are just as noisy. The music sounds too violent and pessimistic, and is beyond annoying.

Lousy, angst-fueled, "r0x0r teh b0x0r", "life is 2 hard" BS like Linkin Park makes me want to go nuts.
Also, bubblegum pop, due to lack of talent or listenability. I don't care for most techno or electronica, though I respect techno musicians as artist (and some are indeed good). Same respect-while-not-actually-liking goes for most solo singers (I care a lot more about instruments than usage of the human voice, but that's just me). Mainstream rap annoys me, but that's not so much a genre as it is mainstream crap taking away from the reputation of both underground talent and old school rap glory. (Run DMC = Sw33t) Same thing for new country.
Most 80s music annoys me, as well (especially most hair metal, ESPECIALLY hair metal ballads).
Pretty much anything else is okay/good/excellent.
It recently dawned on me that my signature could be interpreted as being said by me. For the record, this was not the case. If the previous signature reduced your opinion of me, please increase your opinion. Thank you.
Bubblegum pop and Muzak (or bubblegum pop-muzak) *shudder*
As my friend likes to call it, rap-crap.
I also despise songs by women who cannot sing but instead whine a lot in different tones. Such artists include Christina Aguilara (sp?), Mariah Carey...you get the picture.
Whatever you do, don't read this signature.
...?
pop and rap.
I would definitely put rap as my least favorite type of music. It seems that all of these rappers are the same thing - guys who you can't understand most of the things they say, yell constantly, have extremely unrealistic images of themselves (just look at their videos!) and can't seem to do things by themselves - they always call on their friends to help during their songs, usually in the form of a woman singing a chorus and the man rapping.
My least favorite genre of rock music (my favorite genre) is rap-metal. These bands are so formulaic....their songs are practically about either their anger or how they hate themselves. And they always try to act very rushed, and they make a desparate attempt to seem serious on at least one track on every album. Linkin Park is just an annoyance; and Limp Bizkit? Fred Durst is everything rock music shouldn't be. (and I'd love to see Pete Townsend wail on him!) The only good rap-metal band out there would probably be Squeezetoy. They're a band from Raleigh, and they are actually pretty good. They do a much better job with this than most other crap-rock bands.
Be sure to catch 24 every Monday at 9pm Eastern on Fox (and 10pm Eastern on Global). Watch it, because you know you're brighter than Michael Irvin.
Pretty much any band that Leno has as the musical act- they all sound the SAME! Oooh, guitars and 20-something guys thinking they're cool while playing them- I haven't seen a million of those. So, to sum up, cookie cutter rock bands annoy me. I don't listen to rap much, but when I do, I avoid the angst/death-obsessed ones and focus on the raps that are fun to recite (i.e., Star Wars Gangsta Rap!). And yes, those teen pop idols can get irritating.

My least favorite? Hmmm, tough decision. I'd have to say it'd be mainstream rock, alternative, nu-metal, and all other things in that umbrella. After hearing Dream Theater, those bands just do not cut the prog rock mustard.

Whiny boy bands
Whiny boy bands who try to pass themselves off as metal (Linkin Park, I'm looking at you!)
And from South Park, the best line ever: "I don't listen to hip hop"![]()
Boy bands/bubblegum pop - There is no place for it in this world.
Country - At least what they're calling country now. Shania and her entire generation is crap. Old stuff (Hank Williams, etc.) isn't my cup of tea, but I can see the merit.
Bad rap - I think rap is a true art form, it can be poetry. But all the bad stuff is pushed on us(and accepted by idiots). Rap songs are supposed to have good rhythm. Little of the stuff that MTV trys to sell has rhythm.
Everything you hear on "hits" stations, and most of the rest is crap. Anything the music companies have to make an effort to sell.

BAD MUSIC
All music no matter the genre can be good, rap was good and wonderful back in the day, now it just so happens that most rappers suck. Outkast is good though.
Rock, and I mean everything from Dave Matthews to Black Sabbath. But some bands like Likin Park or Sytem of a Down suck.
Overall IMO for everything stated here.
But anyway, I don't want to generalize one type of music as bad, music is bad not because of what it is, but because it's bad.
What's the point of this thread?

Country. There's a wee little bit of country that I like, namely one or two songs by Garth Brooks that can barely even be considered country any more, and some REALLY old stuff. Other than that, I haven't heard any country that I like.
Anyone who says they dislike rap because it all sounds the same, is always about bling-bling, and is misogynistic is clearly a person who is listening to all the wrong rap. Yes, 99% of rap is pure crap-- big deal, 99% of ALL music is crap. The difference is that you have to dig deeper underground to find the good rap, that's all.
Pessimistic? That all depends on what band you're listening to. Check out Andrew W.K. You can't get any more upbeat than that. Party hard!Originally Posted by oldgreypole
Hey, I love OutKast too. I also like the rap from the 1980's to the early 1990's, back when it was either fun dance music or telling a story about life in the ghetto. The rest of it after that period sucks.Originally Posted by Blue Wolf
