Fresh Question #52: Most Torturous Song

    Like This Thread!
Hello and happy greetings to you all, media mongers. It's new Fresh Question time, so dust off those thinking caps.

If there's anything you people seem to love, it's venting about things that drive you crazy in this big complicated world. And I feel exactly the same way. And everytime I'm in the car I can't help but find myself asking:

What song currently being played in the pop culture circles irritates you the most?? Why...if there is a why??

We're talking 'pain unless I change the station here, people. Vent away.

Pretty much anything rap but in paticular that 50 cent song "In da' club" go just thinking about that song makes me want to stab my ears out with a pencil a really really sharp pencil. And I dont like it because it's so popular I mean are people deaf? It's so generic and all it does is pretty much reapeat the same three notes over and over and over again.

Hmm, there hasn't been anything in the terribly recent past that has irritated me to that extent. Thing is, I NEVER listen to the radio or watch MTV voluntarily, which means that a song has be extraordinary in both crappitude and overplayedness in order to penetrate my consciousness. I think the last song to really get on my nerves like that was that !@#$ "Hot in Here" piece of Nelly crap. Before that, it was the first single from that wretched little Avril thing.

I don't listen to the radio or turn on MTV regularly. But there have been two in the recent past that I would be perfectly happy never hearing again.

The first- Jennifer Lopez and Ja Rule "I'm Real". No beat and annoying lyrics. I'd put it among the top 5 worst songs of all time.

The second- Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow "Picture". This especially hurts since Sheryl Crow is one of my favorite musicians. Why she decided to team up with Kid Rock for the most generic (in lyrics and music) and overplayed country song ever is beyond me.

"In Da Club" because it is EXTREMELY over played on the local radio station.

I used to like it but now it is hella annoying!

I'm a big rock fan, but most System of a Down songs irritate me. The worst song in the past two years is of course Nelly's "It's Getting Hot in Here."

Oh, I could get so lost in this thread.......

I''ll chime in now with "Hot in Herrrre" ( or however the hell that illiterate bufoon decides to mutilate the English language)

I hate this song with such a passion that I refuse to listen to Weird Al's Trash Day parody for fear that I would grow accustomed to and/or even LIKE it. BAH!!!! Bah I say!!!!!!!!!

Any of Nelly's singles have been majorly overplayed, though I am a little biased against the Artist (I think he is a terrible rapper, but I guess its a Mid-West sort of thing that Im not used to) I'll also add more current acts like Chingy, Youngbloodz, and others with that Mid-Western style because they tend to be just like Nelly. Im not big on "bling-bling" type rappers unless they can actually rap and go do other stuff than that.

Any of the pop groups/singers are majorly overplayed, depending who has a more recent album/single... Once an hour with the major NYC stations (like Z100) with them played once every 45 minutes on some of the northern stations (K104.7 out of Beacon NY being a likely culprit).

A lot of Clear Channel stations played out groups like 3 Doors Down, Ataris, Fountains of Wayne, etc.

I completely agree on the rap thing. Also, the best rappers (with the exception of Outkast) are completely ignored by radio. Example- My favorite rapper is Del the Funky Homosapien.

I'm surprised I would ever get tired of hearing a Fountains of Wayne song, but "Stacy's Mom" is getting a bit overplayed now.

Another Del fan, eh? You are clearly a man (woman, alien rocketed to Earth from a doomed planet, barnyard animal, whatever) of exceptional taste. Ever hear any Jurassic 5? Imagine a cross between Del and a barbershop quartet. Easily some of the best hip-hop I've ever heard.

YEESSS! THANK YOU! i can't stand system of a down. the lead can't sing for crap, and i hate how every song i've heard is really like 3 different songs smashed together. PICK A STYLE AND GET ANOTHER SINGER.

and i don't know how recent "recent" is to you, but i absolutely DESPISED madonna's song ("american life", i think it was called) that got played out early this year. they played they hell out of it on TV, and yahoo's launchcast played the hell out of it in it's commercials (it's literally the only reason why i upgraded to their paid service... which in hindsight was a great choice). and to top it off, it was played during the commercials at my local movie theater, before the previews... THREE TIMES... the movie started 20 minutes late... ugh....

"Unwell" by Matchbox 20 was way overplayed, but I guess that died down now.

I'd definitely put Jurassic 5 among the higher quality rap acts, though I never got into them that much. I do like their song "Quality Control" a lot.

    Annoying songs in recent memory:

    Trapt "Headstrong"

    P. Diddy "Bad Boy 4 Life"

    Anything by Avril Lavinge

    Anything by New Found Glory

    Anything by Ludacris

and just to throw in a "classic": Morrissey's "Everyday is Like Sunday". The video is even more annoying

"Bring Me To Life" by Evanescence. I love the band, used to love the song. But it got played so much that I skip over it regularly on their CD and the Daredevil soundtrack. A real shame.

And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable... I simply... am not... there."

Never heard any Morissey, but the Smiths are exceptionally good.

Lessee... I second "Hot In Herre". About as much fun as boiling your head in a burning lobster pit while getting sexually molested by midgets.
