DANNY ELFMAN.
Walker wouldn't be too bad though.
Elfman should definitly do it the original score was amazing!
When different sites and sources tell the public about all these movie rumors, they don't seem to mention who's in motion for scoring the film. I doubt anyone knows who, if anyone yet, is on board for the next Batman, but who do you hope to see setting up the new theme?
Personally, as cliche as this may be, I'd really like to see Shirley Walker and Danny Elfman team up to create new music, as well as incorporating pieces of both their Batman themes into the movie.
How 'bout you?
DANNY ELFMAN.

Danny Elfman...new music? isn't that an oxymoron? Elfman does the same chord prgression and key and same melodic line in everyone of his scores he wouldn't be able to come up wit "new" music if god itself were to perform a miracle and grant ol' danny a muse.
"Hang out at a lot of Biker Bars Bruce?"
As much as I'd love to see Danny Elfman reprise the theme from Tim Burton's two movies, I'd rather see someone new come in. There are plenty of talented people out there that can come up with a brand new, exciting Batman score. If they follow his lead, as Shirley Walker and the rest of the animated teams did, they'll be just fine.
Agreed about Elfman though, as much as I appreciate his music, it all starts to sound the same after a while. The only movie music of his that I really loved were his two Batman scores and Edward Scissorhands.

It's true that while most of his music sounds the same, the score he writes goes only with what he's writing it for. You could never switch them and get the same vibe (ex: Spiderman's music would never go with the Batman movies he wrote for and vice versa, etc.) That's why it's hard for me to get tired of his work.
So, do you guys have a preference? Anyone in particular you'd like to see, or hear rather?
Yeah, I think it would be best if they went with someone other than Elfman in this film-- not because I have any problem with him or his work, but just because I think this film needs to distance itself a little from the other Batman movies. It needs to find its own style instead of borrowing too heavily on Tim Burton's Batman.
I'm not a big fan of Danny Elfman. You couldn't imagine my dissapointment when I heard he was scoring the Spider-Man movie, and my further dissapointment at how utterly dismal and unimaginative it was.
Shirley Walker's theme is my favorite.
Roc'n the mic.
Mine too, and I think a slightly reworked version could be every bit as epic and catchy as a high-budget production needs. The MOTP version of the theme, with the Gregorian-chant-style chorus, is still the definitive Bat-theme in my mind. Very powerful, and very evocative.

Two words: John Williams
I think I'll throw in New Zealand-born Graeme Revell's name into the hat.
He's done the sountrack to the Crow, Dark City, DareDevil and the upcoming
Punisher.

The Doctor: Fantastic!
Absolutely. I felt his Hulk music was better - however the main motif was ripped from the TV series. The music in Hulk was far more varied than his usual fantasy offerings.Originally Posted by Eidan
Besides that, a fresh start requires a fresh composer. I'd rather keep away from Williams for the same reason with Elfman - not that either are bad, they both are just two distinctive. Someone new please!![]()

John Williams, people! Anything he touches is an instant classic! Action is his style, too. Although, I think it would be interesting to see how he would handle something as dark as Batman. He couldn't exactly do an Indiana Jones-type theme. But still, he did make the Imperial March unforgettable...who knows?
I am going to second Graeme Revell. The Daredevil score owned (what little there was of it).
The ending to DD is my favourite score ever.
No. Not John Williams. No matter how dark or foreboding he makes his music, it always sounds too 'cheery' to me. It wouldn't fit Batman at all. At all.
Anything he touches is an instant classic because he only touches things that are already classics. Everything he does is lifted from classical composers. That's not to say that his music isn't really good in the movies it's used for (The Imperial March is awesome). It just isn't original. Plus, I'm sick of him. Using Williams would be too obvious.Originally Posted by Lucky Bob
I like Shirley Walker for her Batman work and for SpaceL Above and Beyond. She really knows how to use the brass section. Of course, she might be kind of an obvious choice.
If I had to choose someone else: Carter Burwell is my favorite, but I don't know if his style fits with Batman. He is perfect for the Coens. Ummm, how about....crap. For some reason Shirley Walker is the only name I can think of right now.

I'd also like Graeme Revell. The Daredevil score was amazing.
"There is an idea of a Patrick Bateman; some kind of abstraction. But there is no real me; only an entity, something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable... I simply... am not... there."
Now, now. He's taken quite a few career risks. I mean, not even George Lucas thought that Star Wars would take off. Or Indiana Jones for that matter. The Goonies wasn't a sure thing, either...Originally Posted by Stewie
But yeah, SK, I'll agree that his style is rather upbeat. But still, I would like to hear it, just out of curiosity if nothing else.
I agree. He's a great composer and all, but every time I hear his music, I think of a children's fantasy film rather than something dark and brooding like Batman should be.Originally Posted by SilverKnight
Ya know, I'd almost rather get a relatively unknown but great composer to do the music for Batman 5. Do something totally original.

Those who feel John Williams can't compose a dark score have not seen Oliver Stone’s JFK. It was a very haunting score that added to the creepiness of the movie and its conspiracy themes. I feel he could give a score appropriate for Batman.
But really, I have a feeling Nolan will go with the same composer that did his Insomnia and Memento (sp?) films. Whatever score this movie will have will fit whatever vision Nolan has, and he will work with whomever he is comfortable working with.
I am the master of fear!
Better than that even was the music for Nixon. I didn't even realize that Williams did those until now. Okay, John Williams has my approval.Originally Posted by TheScarecrow
