That is a slightly remixed version of the music from the climax to Requiem for a Dream, I believe it's called Lux Aeterna, composed by Clint Mansell and performed by the Kronos Quartet. If you haven't seen Requiem, and you're old/mature enough, you should to check it out. It's pretty strong stuff, though. I always found it odd that they would base the ad campaign on that song. Both movies are great, but I don't really wan't to associate one with the other.

EDIT: Should you see it, make sure it's not the edited R-rated cut.

The State needs to be on DVD... now.

i'm still pissed off that lord of the THIEVES used requiem's theme song... requiem has so little going for it as an independant movie, and a big studio movie goes and swipes their theme song and makes it their own.
high 5 to jdoggg, requiem does indeed rock. i always tell everyone, this movie should be required viewing for those anti-drug days in high school health class. it's like the "red asphalt" of drug movies

Actually Clint Mansell is delighted that his piece of music is more widely known because of the Two Towers trailer. Lux Aeterna is Latin for "Light Eternal" or "Eternal Light".

Thank you so much! I was just thinking about this the other day. I knew the song sounded familiar, but I just couldn't place it. Thanks for helping me out too, guys!

Oh please. Trailers have been borrowing music from other movies forever. I can't count the number of trailers or commercials that have used the music from Rudy or Glory. Heck, I still can't think of Mulan without the Dragonheart theme.

I'm glad they used Lux Aeternum for the simple fact that it got the piece re-recorded with a big honking orchestra!!

    Don't forget the chanting.

This version is popularly known as "Requiem of the Rings". Good luck on finding the MP3 of it. That will never be released officially.
