The song in question is "Riding the Storm Out" by REO Speedwagon. Man, you must really hate rap if you're liking REO Speedwagon.![]()
Okay, I'm sure we've all seen that awful new commercial for Pepsi Vanilla. Now, I particularly hate this commercial because whenever I'm getting into the song that the Coke guy is playing, that damn Pepsi Driver starts playing his rap music! So, can someone tell me the name of the song that the Vanilla Coke guy plays? It must be a kind of famous song because I think I've heard it before.

It's one of those ads where you prefer the "enemy's" song instead of the "good guy's" song, with Vanilla Coke and Pepsi Vanilla respectively playing these roles. I like Vanilla Coke more anyway.
What upsets me about this ad is that it's saying that if you drink a vanilla soda other than Pepsi Vanilla, then you are unhip and not very good. Now since when was Vanilla Coke not any good? And since when was REO Speedwagon not any good? (i was going to see them on tour with Styx, but they sold out)

Pepsi is targetting the youth market. The kids today aren't really down with REO Speedwagon.Originally Posted by Carolina Red
It doesn't really matter who the "uncool" Coke guy listens to, as long as they're "old" and not that famous. It seems to be working pretty well, too.

Give a hoot, read a book.
Don't worry about it; it's a commercial, not a documentary.Originally Posted by Carolina Red

I know....I just feel that they are creating stereotypes. Old things are not necessarily uncool. If they were, then nobody would be wearing retro sports jerseys or listening to Led Zepplin.
Of course Pepsi is targeting the youth market, that's why they hire people like Britney Spears, Ozzy Osbourne (who has lost all of his credibility in the past three years) and Shakira to sponsor them!

Yeah, you're a little late there. They "sold out" in 1978.Originally Posted by Carolina Red
Again, I'm joking. REO Speedwagon has some really good songs. Once I find out what they are, I'll get back to you.
