What is the first music CD that you ever purchased or owned?

    Like This Thread!
The first music CD that I ever owned is "The Music of Raymond Scott: Reckless Nights and Turkish Twilights," but the first music CD that I ever purchased is "The Raymond Scott Project Volume One." How is this possible? I bought the former at a store, while I ordered though a catalog for the latter (which arrived three days in the mail after purchasing the former). This was back in 1993.

Other things that I recall when I received my first CD: I expected the CD to be made out of metal, and was surprised to find out that it is plastic. Also, when I first attempted to play the CD, I ended up putting the playing side up.

Wow! Talk about going back in time. As far as I can remember, it was Michael W Smith, "I 2 (eye)".

I also remember going "huh?" when my parents got a big CD stereo system, this was back in 1992 or something. We only owned about two or three CDs initially.

    Oh, man... this is embarrassing...

Debbie Gibson, "Out of the Blue". Or it might've been Whitney Houston's second album. I think that would've been '87.

The first I got as gifts were B-52's Cosmic Thing and ZZ Top's Recycler. Eventually got rid of both of them.

First I bought for myself was (I think) Faith No More's The Real Thing which is still one of my all-time favorite albums.

Delving back further into the embarrassing past.

-First commercial cassette (i.e. not recorded onto blank tape) was probably Bryan Adams' Reckless (I still have it actually, sounds pretty tore up now)

-First album I ever bought though was on vinyl and it was Micahel Jackson's Thriller (shattered a LONG time ago, but wouldn't turn away a new copy, for old times sake.)

The first CD that I both owned and purchased was a Hole import called "B-Girl." It consists of b-sides (duh) and alternate versions of already released songs. There are more than 20 tracks on it. It's pretty good, I still have it. I think I got it in 1995. I didn't even have a CD player at the time, but I was a big Hole fan, so I bought it anyway. The first cassette I ever bought was Hole's "Live Through This" album.

The first CD I ever purchased myself was Blues Traveler's "Four." I think that was the name of the album. I rarely listen to it anymore, but I remember it being the first.

As for my first CD altogether, I honestly don't remember.

I think it was Metallica S&M...although I did buy alot of Batman soundtracks before that. So my first real, true, music CD I guess would be the MOTP soundtrack..

Metallica S&M is an awesome album... wish my favorite bands would do similar projects...

Anywho, the first CD I ever owned, of all things, was the one that came with the Comix Zone video game for Sega Genesis. Way back in the early 90s, 92, maybe. I still have it, I dig all but 1 or 2 tracks on it. Technically I paid for it since I had to pay for the game it came in.

The first CD I bought was called 'Out of This World', a collection of music from John Williams. This was back in 1986 - disc still plays perfect today

The first CDs were made of aluminum, if I remember correctly.

My first CD was a tribute album called "The London Symphony Plays the Greatest Hits of Queen". The highlight of the album was their version of "Bohemien Rhapsody", sung by real opera singers.

Hm. Maybe New Kids On The Block, or The Little Mermaid. That was too long ago.

A 2-disc Creedence Clearwater Revival (or CCR ) set. My mother was pretty shocked.

    Weird Al - Greatest Hits

And I'm not ashamed of that. Great CD!
It recently dawned on me that my signature could be interpreted as being said by me. For the record, this was not the case. If the previous signature reduced your opinion of me, please increase your opinion. Thank you.

World Famous Masterpieces, a classical c.d. It was an Easter gift from my mom 10 years ago. I still have it.
