Most people become focused, get hyped and ready to do something and/up or inspired by certain things around in their environment. One of the more common things is listening to music because its everywhere around you, whether it being on the radio, listening a CD, on the internet, or even hearing when walking down the street.
What specific music and songs do you listen to inpsire/focus/hyped up/etc.?

It depends on what I'm doing - if I'm studying, I'll put on some mellow music (instrumental stuff from Cowboy Bebop, Sailor Moon, Evangelion, and John Mayer, Norah Jones, etc.). If I'm getting ready to go out somewhere, I'll listen to fast-paced music ("Gotta Get Through This" by Daniel Beddingfield and "When I Get You Alone" by Thicke are just some examples.)![]()
can't worry about tomorrow's pain tonight - lucky boys confusion
Requiem For A Dream - that has been very inspirational for fanfic writing both the more recent Battle Of The Planets and Batman fics (at fanfiction.net) were inspired by that piece.
If I'm going out, Keep Fishin' by Weezer, Envy by Ash, Diggin' The Grave by Faith No More and Vanilla Radio by The Wildhearts set the mood. Gets me jumpy and excited! *bounces*
If I'm feeling nostalgic or a little sad, I find listening to FF calms my mood. One Winged Angel was an inspiration for some fanfics..
Finally anything by Frank Black and the Pixies normally gets my musical juices flowing if I want to write something!

when I am working out, or doing an aerobics workout, I'll listen to the Blade 2 sound track, industrial, hard rock, etc.
The 2 tracks from 8 Mile OST helps me to stay focus and keep doing my projects....
Marilyn Manson and other types of dark rock gives me inspiration for certain projects, while others I listen to dance music.

When I'm programming, I usually prefer some light jazz, mainly the albums "Spyro Gyra" by Spyro Gyra and "I Heard That!" by Quincy Jones. When I'm thinking about my girlfriend who is away at college, I put on "This Side" by the country band Nickel Creek, "Everlong" by the Foo Fighters, "Tell Me" by Goldfinger, and "Italian Leather Sofa/Theme to 'Mission Hill'" (the latter is just a reworked, rerecorded version of the former) by Cake. The songs I like driving to change constantly, but at the present moment my favorites are "No One Knows" by Queens of the Stone Age, "Mrs. Train" by They Might Be Giants, "Outta Sight (Outta Mind)" by Wilco, and the opening theme to Love Hina (I don't like the show, but I love that song).
Depending on what I am doing, but...
For Sparring I like to listen to some M.M.P.R. songs like "I Will Win" "5-4-1-" and "Hero". When I was younger it was the Thundercats theme song I still find that inspirational.
Then from there on it depends. I listen to all kinds of music from classical to Heavy Metal.
I like to read a comic or a book and then put together a few songs that go with it, and re-read it. It makes the story even better with a sound track. Try reading the last two chapters and the Epilogue of The Life Story of the Fash to The Calling's "Wherever You Will Go". It adds a whole new level to them.
actually, when i want to focus, i dont listen to music, because i end up paying attention to the music instead of what im trying to do.
although i do listen to "trust me" by brendon small when i need a pick-me-up![]()
It recently dawned on me that my signature could be interpreted as being said by me. For the record, this was not the case. If the previous signature reduced your opinion of me, please increase your opinion. Thank you.
I find it just the opposite that music helps me to focus. It inspires me.
i realize im probably in the minority when it comes to music and inspiration. it's just when a song is on, i usually devote my full attention to it.

A lot of people are like that. It is just that for me it helps. Maybe it is because I am an 80's child. I grew up in the age of MTV and when almost every movie used music as a way of setting up a scene.
before Linkin Park became super popular and way overplayed, Hybrid Theory was a great CD to get me pumped
Foo Fighters - "Monkey Wrench" , "Hero"
Eiffel 65 - "Hyperlink"
Green Day - "Nice Guys Finish Last"
Alkaline Trio - "Bloodied Up"
just a few of the best ones
Before I go lift I like to listen to my Rocky IV cd.
Before I go to work I like to listen to some hip-hop or rock to pump me up to have a good day.
Eye of the Tiger used to be our theme when I was on the football team in high school. We lost one game when we played that song which happened to be the regional championship. We ended the season with a 12-3 record. The other two loses we didn't play the song before the game.
"Always a pleasure to meet a Jedi." - Jango Fett
"Arghh! I'm not beautiful."- Sea Captain
"Everybody loves Butters." "That's me!" - Butters

One of the best things about living in Philly is running up the art museum steps while listening to the Rocky theme.
For studying classical and movie scores help refresh my mind to stay focus. These two types as well as music by E.S. Posthumus really inspire me to draw. Last year was also the most depressing year of my life and music was very therapeutic in helping get through that time, which I see as inspirational. Some of the songs I listened to were Matchbox20 (Kody, Hang, Long Day, Leave), Savage Garden (Crash and Burn), Fuel (Innocent, Bad Day), Five for Fighting (Superman), Linkin Park (Runaway), Lifehouse (Simon, Sick Cycle Carousel), Sarah McLachlan (Full of Grace), U2 (Stuck in a Moment...).
"Every day you sit behind your desk and you learn a little more how to accept the world the way it is. Well, here's the rub: heroes don't do that. Heroes don't accept the world the way it is. They fight it." - Lindsey McDonald, Angel

Metallica's No Leaf Clover was instrumental in my script writing period (don't worry, they were rejected) - especially in the story I was trying to write about a character called Saul - a demon with an edge.. Most of the good scenes flashed into my head during that track. I remember it vividly...!

80s music, old-school hip-hop, funk (electro and otherwise) and classic rock serve as my inspirations for whatever I do, whether it's pushing carts, writing or posting to this and the many other message boards I'm signed with.
