    MTV Video Music Awards

Who watched this last night, all or in part? I only watched the last hour, hour and a half or so. I have to say I was disappointed that Moulin Rouge won for best video at the end, not that the video is bad, I just couldn't stand to see bulemic Christian Agularia on stage again. She looked hideous. My fav video is Fatboy Slim's, but I didn't really expect them to win.

Other things I saw in the time I watched that stuck out...The Insult Dog was funny. I can't believe Smigel gets away with what he does cuz he has a dog puppet on his hand! And Britney Spears performance was quite something else too. But I am getting tired of hearing her sing about how grown up she is. She seems rather insecure about the fact she was a Teen Queen and is trying too hard to break out of that. Either she has it or she doesn't. Madonnna has it, so she didn't need to keep on singing, "look how grown up I am" songs to prove it. Britney needs to drop those songs and just show us she deserves to still be noticed.

    Yeah, I love that video.

Britney's dancing was incredible, but she wasn't even really singing, which was painfully obvious. I suppose it doesn't matter, since her looks are all anybody really cares about anyway. But it's near impossible to have any respect for her musically now.

You saw the beginnig of the end of Britney Spears last night. Mark my words. That was the wrost song/dance routine ever. And as for the majority of the people who won, didn't see that coming. Nsync, that stupid Moulin Rouge video, uh, reminds me why I keep my MTV viewing to a minimum...

    Re: MTV Video Music Awards

Overall I think the show pretty much stunk, lacked entertainment value and was very uninsprining... There was nothing fun or exciting. Will Farrel did a lame attempt of trying to make us think that him running onstage and climbing the scaffolding wasn't planned, but you could tell it was. Jaime Foxx's jokes were just unfunny (altho, I did chuckle when he offered the Backstreet Boys some champagne). The live performances weren't too spectacular, U2 probably gave the best live performances, with props going out to Staind, Linkin Park and Alicia Keys (best new artist). Michael Jackson joining NSync on stage wasn't as spectacular as they wanted it to be...they say no one knew it was gonna happen, but that's a load of mularky... Britney's new song I could hardly hear, although it sounded remarkably like her other songs in that "My techno-drum machine is stuck at this tempo" sort of way. And the two "regular fans" that were voted on... one said she already was given a job at MTV... I think that should disqualify her then, since she now works for the company... and the other guy was just lame... but that's my own opinion. I think the most amusing points of the night were: Daphne Aguilera (Andy Dick) going out into the audience to attack Christina and Jaime Foxx messing up and introducing Jay-Z when he was supposed to announce Gwen, Moby & Eve...

Well, it was 3.5 hours of my life wasted, just like any other MTV award event...

    Don't you people understand!?!

Sounds like the event stunk. But I usually have a flair for the obvious...
Ugh, Britney performed at the Super Bowl, I could barely hear her voice, except for one last "la" at the end, and she botched THAT.
Remember, these things always have to be taped; so nothing TRUELY bad happens...I remember a Nickelodeon "live" awards show that showed footage the night before to promote it...it was pathetic.

I guess recording these shows beats having them air live and run over and thus screw up the networks schedule. And that's the way the Oscars used to be.

Mtv sucks. Most of the votes were probably made by dumbasses who don't know what good music is.

I wonder if the vote were also rigged. It seems likely, as MTV would try to suck up to whatever's hot right now...but yeah, if they weren't rigged, most voters would probably vote for what was hot as well, as others said.
    Sigh...

I wanted to see either "Stan" or "Weapon Of Choice" win video of the year. Also I really wanted to see Gorillaz or Jurassic 5 win the MTV2 award. Also really disapointing was Linkin Parks preformance. Why? They just did one song. No "Crawling"..... And honestly I laughed when Jaime Fox offered the Backstreet Boys......

same here "stan" or "weapon of choice", haha, i love chris walken, i watched part of the snl rerun last night with him, then i thought about how BAD MTV is. The things are rigged, MTV IS TOTTALLY messed. ya know TRL? its not live, atleast not the show i went to in san deigo, i was on trl, oh man.. they tell u what to say, how to say it, what you are going to vote for.. votes dont count, its all crud. LIES!!! (its the SAME WAY for the AWARD shows) And yea, they will suck up to anyone hot at the moment, such as the moulin rouge, i think its a p0rn video my self, and not worth the time of day(as all MTV shows are...). I heard this guy on the radio i think about.. 2 days ago talking about how MTV has messes up the younger generation, and that the programing is soooo bad and tasteless, how it hasnt helped at all, which is all true. so yea i AGREE with ALL of you on the board, lets keep the MTV viewing down a minuim. ahh! i didnt know the Gorillaz were nominated for something! ah! id want them to win! er.. ok now im mad... >:0(

For a great article on the fiasco, go here:

It makes the interesting point that much of the people there were just using the opportunity to hawk their wares.
