VH1's Campaign Against Music Continues: Driven: The Rock?!?

    Like This Thread!
I just saw an ad for A new episode of VHI's Driven which will focus on (are you ready for this?!?) The Rock! I just have one question. What the heck dose The Rock have to do with music?!? Has he ever cut A record?!? I don't think so!! It's just one more instance of VH1 (and MTV for that matter) moving away from what made it successful in the first place. (say it with me.) MUSIC! I get the feeling that Viacom is more interested in becoming the media outlet of of celebrity cameos that are supposed to say "Hey, am I a good-natured, poke-fun-at-myself kind of guy or WHAT?" when what they really say is, "We've lost our true perpous, so enjoy this episode of 'Entertainment Tonight" cut with what's basically "the Pop Culture Awards" as the celebs gather to have a good time and congratulate each other on how funny it all is. The actors spend so much time mugging at the screen and indulging in improvised nonsensical exchanges that the experience is like being at a party where you're the only person in the room not smashed on nitrous oxide. The Rock, indeed!

As far as I know, the Rock has done two songs, the disappointing "Pie" song from WWF: The Music Volume 5, and "It Doesn't Matter," with Wyclef Jean.

What does this mean? Absolutely nothing, because that is all VH-1 will ever be.

    Later.

Still, it's not enough for VH1's Driven to center A full episode on The Rock.

    VH-1 shows some music.
i'd guess maybe 35 videoos oveer the course of the day. (not includeing lat night where it's just all videos becasue only a few people are up to see that) that 35 videos is more then 10 times the amount that mtv plays all day, since mtv will show 10 seconds of a video of trl before airing some movie star eating food to see if it's a kangaroo. my god, that has so much to do with music.
vh1 has wayyyyyyyyyyyyy more Music related programs per day then mtv has per year

sad part has to be is that people must be watching these types of shows on vh-1. If they didn;t watch the advertising revenue wouldn't be coming in prompting them to produce more of these types of shows.

Thing I can't figure out is that with sooo many entertainment channels and programs on A LOT of networks that are JUST LIKE THESE TYPES OF SHOWS is how are they pulling in the people to watch it? I'd think the competition would be heavier than just airing music videos which no other station does anymore. (Barring the digital mtv music channels)
Current anime favs: TM! Ryo-ohki 3rd oav series, RoD tv, Azumanga Daioh
