What's MTV doing on this poll? They haven't played a music video on five years.

    (-:

All the listed stations have had their ups and downs. MTV was the best back in the day when they were the young rebel station that had to constantly try new things and stay fresh in order to be competitive against the more established, conservative stations. Now they've become the corporate monolothic crap that they were created to rebel against. There's a political metaphor in there somewhere....

Bet is cool ..but I only watch it for comicview or Dr Dre videos.

VH1 sucks..its like an MTV clone. But I do like Behind the Music and pop-up video.

MTV- Hate everything except "The osbournes"

    My pick?

MuchMusic and MTV2....better videos, more underground stuff. and pure music...no stupid shows!

My favorite is MTV2. I remember a couple of years ago when they did their "We're playing every video we own in order by name". That was awesome. Where else could you see White Zombie, Alabama, and a novelty hair metal record called "Don't Call Me Dude" all in a row?

What??? I would guess at least 70% of videos shown on MTV are black artists.

All the major music channels are awful these days. Too much talk, too little music, and even if they do play music there is no variety.

70 percent's a bit much. MTV focuses on dirty pop and white-man's rap. Soft rock/pop comes next with Mariah Carey, Vanessa Carlton, and Michelle Branch. Punk/Alternative is third tier with Good Charlotte and Boxcar Racer. I guess gangster rap ties for third.

I think it's a shame that MTV's molding the nation's youth. Really, if Christina Aguilera isn't actually naked, who cares? Nick Carter is living proof that the music industry is just copy-cat and void of originality. I like Eminem, but he can be so overplayed.

VH1 has interesting documentaries, so I vote for that.

Do MTV or VH1 deal with the Black Community issues??? No!!! I'm not talking about just videos, I'm talking about Black rights, Black laws, Black news. That's what I'm talking about Desslar.

    They all suck.

Why? No specific reason. I just don't like the edited music videos, the music overall, the empahsis on teens, the reality shows, the documentaries that suggest anyone can be a superstar, the superstars themselves, the fact that there are at least six music channels, top lists that are always suggestive and heavily biased, and the Macarena....

Only way anyone sees me watching a music channel is if it's Spider-man, and MTV better not disappoint.

    Later.

Out of the ones listed above, they all pretty much suck and have no redeeming qualities whatsoever (I'm sorry, but the novelty of 'The Osbournes' has worn off). The actual good music channels that I like are MTV 2, MUCH MUSIC and MUCH LOUD.I like channels that not only play music, but showcase a wide variety of different genres. MUCH MUSIC is slowly becoming the evil that is MTV. MTV 2 remains a glimmer of hope for the music buff (or regular fan).

It's funny - I heard a wild rumor that there will be an MTV 3 by 2004. I wouldn't be surprised one bit.

Of those mentioned, BET is the only one I watch.

MuchMusic and LOUD are my preferences.

The rest of those networks, IMO, are just atrocious, except MTV2 on a good day.

I'm convinced that there is no such thing as MTV2. Nobody I know has it- and most of my friends have either digital cable or satellite with four or five hundred channels, including the BBC for crying out loud.

I always hear that a friend of a friend has it, or I hear from someone on the Internet who has it, but I have yet to actually see it myself. I'm convinced that it's an urban legend perpetuated by MTV so that when people say, "MTV never plays videos" they can reply, "that's what MTV2 is for."

Even if this probably-mythological network does exist, it's a travesty that MTV created a spinoff network that almost no one (if anyone) gets in order to perform what their ostensible function has always been: to play music videos.

    Argh!

Imagine a true 24-hour a day 7-day a week music video network. They could play ALL videos in their entirety, have a huge long five hour top-40 block, a rap block, a rock block, a ska block, a punk block... it would be great.

Too bad no such network exists, to my knowledge.
