Power Ranger Background Music: Past and Present

    Like This Thread!
When the forces behind Power Rangers, in late 1998, decided to change thier show's background music from hard-hitting rock tracks like "I will Win", and "Turbo Time" to the like of orchestra-style music to enhance the drama and deapth of the action occuring, it was seen as quite a bold step by many, and a demonstration of how much the show was evolving...

I loved that kind of music all the way through "In Space" and "Lost Galaxy"

But now I'm starting to MISS the old rock tracks on Power Rangers, who could forget "Go Green Ranger, Go" ? Or the GENIUS that was "We Need a Hero", or "Hope for the World?"

Gems...The next series could benefit from those tracks....

I think I'd prefer to stick with the orchestra. Gives each and every moment that cinematic feel.

Like Wes's final charge against Ransiks forces and his impending doom. The gravity of his situation was that much more apparent with the orchestra as oppose to a band rocking out.

Then again... Beast Wars had a little of both. I wouldn't mind that at all.

But since this is going to the production team behind Hercules, I'm expecting them to stick with the orchestra sound.

Well, I always was for a mixed combination of the two. Space did a good job of that when the had the rock tunes for normal villians and the heavy orchestra music for the big bads like Darkonda and Astronema.

    Later.

Perhaps we need a hybrid mix of the two. As long as it is all good, right?

I didn't watch much past Zeo except for Time Force, so I prefer the rock music. There were many classics, but I would have to hear more of the orchestrated stuff to have a full opinion.

1 of my Favorite Power Ranger Background Themes is "Fight". It made the scene in the MMPR Episode "Something Fishy" where the zords are combining so much cooler. This theme was last heard in Turbo Episode "The Accident" where Elgar's Zord battled Robo Racer. My 2nd Favorite is that theme from Turbo The Movie where they're fighting the Putra Pods on the Ship, this theme was heard in Turbo's "The Darkest Day" where the Turbo Megazord was Battling Metallusaurus.
