    Who's your favorite Band...

    Like This Thread!
I like bands few of you have probably ever heard of. but i've learned that other people like cool bands I have never heard of. so i ask you his... who's your favorite band or bands.

    Mine you ask:
    Weezer
    The Hives
    White Stripes
    The Strokes
    Eels
    Gorillaz
and more but this list will be good for now. we'll see how many people respond to this, then maybe i'll list more.

Since this is entertainment (music) related, I'm moving it to AniTainment.

Oh, and I guess I'd say the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, but that's not really a "band" is it?

I wouldn't worry - most Cafe lurkers haunt this Board and vice visa (I consider myself one of the latter). It is an entertainment question - afterall, any question we ask people to answer in the end is so we can learn about others opinions - if we follow that logic 75% of the board would be in the Cafe and not in theme specific forums! Besides, there will be a link from the Cafe on this topic to the Anitainment board! This is entertainment so it stays, BD!

    Onto the question itself:

My interest in new bands is lacking - nothing has tickled my tastebuds in a long time. Into Frank Black's current solo work and the standard rock produced by Foo Fighters. Moloko is a favourite - bout time they did something new. Big Faith No More fan and Patton's recent projects both Bungle and Fantomas. The Bloodhound Gang, I am ashamed to say, has caught my interest of late. It may be purile and vaguely ridiculous, but it's rather interesting and it amuses me how Jimmy Pop uses evey single sentence as a potential means to offend someone - anyone!

Not a fan of the Strokes, but The White Stripes are excellent - the style is reminicent of a band I wrote and performed with years ago - nice to be ahead of a trend!

Weezer has some catchy stuff too. Good stuff.

My three favorite bands/performers would have to be:

Henry Rollins - Rollins Band/Black Flag
Nick Cave - Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
Maynard James Keenan - Tool/Perfect Circle

All three have very distinctive sounds, and I just love the music and performances they put out there.

Edit: Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention that I really like Dream Theater as well. And I love Chroma Key.

And open wide to suck it in, I feel it move across my skin.
I'm reaching up and reaching out, I'm reaching for the random, or what ever will bewilder me.
And following our will and wind we may just go where no one's been.
We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no one's been.
    Spiral out. Keep going"

Yes, I enjoy the occasional Rollins too. I love his massively thick neck - it makes his head look so tiny - especially when he goes into frenzy mode!

Did you hear their new album yet? I accidently loaded a ZIP file of "Gravity" they other day from Audiogalaxy, and it's their best one yet. As for Maynard James Keenan, the only song I like of his is "Ass Kickin' Fat Kid".

Hehehe. Yeah, he's pretty impressive looking, especially when you see him up close. Have you ever checked out any of his spoken word shows? Some fo the funniest performances I've ever seen - better than most stand-up comics!

He's a talented man. His books, his acting, guru to the stars, his music, his spoken word tours (yeah I've seen snippets)... Rollin's is big in every way - including, of course, his neck....

My favorite band is Metallica. But James, Lars, and Kirk aren't my favorite musicians.

My favorite musician is a guy from Holland named Arjen Lucassen.
His main project is called Ayreon, but he's released some other stuff, including one this year.
He's a multi-instrumentalist(guitars, keys, bass) that gets singers to sing on his albums, all concept albums. He'll sometime sing himself, but he's the writer and composer of all the music.

    Other bands:
    Symphony X
    Days of the New
