an excellent debut album and an excellent overall album. the track selction is compiled in an impressive manner. it actually sound's like a real album with it's own distinct sound, rather than just a collection of hit singles. although, i can do without "i'll be true to you" and "gonna buy me a dog". they disrupt the flow of the rest of the album since they're nothing more than novelty or filler tracks. mike nesmith's "all the kings horses" is one of my monkees favorites and that definately should have been put in place of those 2 songs.

i'm torn between 4 and 4 1/2 stars because there are definately 2 better monkees albums, and i dont want to give the same rating for more than one album.

I never actually listened to this album, but I can say that I used to like the song "Last Train to Clarksville" when I was little.
An authentic blend of 23 flavors
